Ever heard the saying ‘A chill down your spine means a hare just jumped over your future grave’? There was no mention in there about current graves, but Alfredo felt it anyway. He could not exactly sleep, or dream and drift. He was dead. The dead don’t dream. Instead he was doomed to lie among roots and mulch, and serve as infertile breeding ground for the uncounted minuscule denizens of the earth. As such, he was perfectly suited to note any change in the landscape that occurred above his head. He was hidden among the gnarled feet of an oak, clasped in her tendriled embraces, and listened to the world, to the footsteps in the grove.

Not a wanderer or lost tourist there, that might have served as a meal to tide him over. Whatever moved in that perilous in-between of dusk, it was not mortal. In fact, it was so very removed from mortality, that it startled in him a strange sense of familiar unease. It drew him out of the ground, one pale grasping arm at a time. Covered in soil, wet leaves clinging to his hair, the nightmarish creature shifted out from beneath the tree, glancing to see where that mysterious presence could have run off to. Curiosity and cats were not the only lethal combination.

@hclliish​ cute affection things:  Very carefully, Hel tugged at the sleeve of Crowley's jacket, wanting his attention. "Up?" She asked, holding up her arms for easier lifting, as if it might help convince him. "Please?" There was a sheet of paper in her hand, a drawing of the two of them together that she wanted to give him, when she was closer to his height.

When he felt a tug on his jacket the demon looked downwards. The little scowl that usually adorned his features quickly turned into a smile at who it was. Watching arms be held up and the simple request of ‘Up’ followed by a ‘Please.’ Well now he couldn’t deny that now could he?

“Hello, there my little hellspawn. Let’s see here-”

Crouching down a little Crowley picked up Hel with a small ‘oof’ before settling her against his hip with arms wrapped around her to keep her there. It wasn’t like it was hard to pick the child up, demonic strength and all, but still, the act of picking someone up was different.

“And what do you have there in your hand?”

He never minds watching her, but the forget doesn’t seem like the best place for such a young child.

Was it that obvious? His hands are shaking and he clinches them to stop it if only for a brief moment. “You always say that.” And she’s always right, but at least he doesn’t wake up screaming anymore. But he does wake up crying, in a cold sweat, shaking after those memories come flooding back. “You know you don’t have to baby me right?” Hostile in that moment, an inhale of breath as he reaches for his half empty pack of cigarettes.
