she looks up from her bed when he enters the room - have the servants called for him? Probably. After all their queen has suddenly felt ill, with no cause to be seen. Which is why she is resting now. Yona smiles at him & chuckles a little "The servants are too easily worried, I am not ill." She explains with a gentle voice "I talked to the physician - apparently this can happen during... during the first stages of pregnancy" She mumbles with a blush, smiling up at him. "You'll be a father soon."

⊰⊰♛⊱⊱ He’d been terribly busy, buried underneath parchment upon parchment; but when he heard the news that his wife was struggling... that’s when he knew he couldn’t focus any longer. It was, perhaps, selfish; a bit unlike himself to put matters of the kingdom second to anything else, but he justified it to himself. He figured that if she were dangerously ill: the fate of Kouka would be compromised as well, she was their rightful queen after all. So he’d rushed past halls, and opened the door to their chambers, breathless and desperate. The sight of her didn’t particularly ease his thoughts, his worries, but as she began talking he felt the ground flip upside down on him. She was...

❝ ... ❞ Words escaped him, heavy breathing replacing their sounds as his mouth closed and opened repeatedly. His eyes gradually started to burn, as if he’d walked right inside the kitchen while the servants were peeling off onions... and before he could even contain himself: tears started to roll down. Hot on his face, marking him with every drop. Yet he was still somewhat silent; his lips quivering though tightly shut. It wouldn’t last that way much longer, that was clear. So he decided to approach her, slow step after step until he managed to kneel on the bed beside her. By then, the effort had taken its toll, and what had been once a silent cry turned into sobbing, punctuated by his sharp breathing.

Seeing her there, having told him that... it felt like a dream; as if she’d disappear if he touched her... as if all of it would vanish. And yet... he still allowed himself to lean down and wrap his arms around her, trying to contain himself for a moment to avoid drenching her with tears. He closed his eyes, rested his head on her shoulder, and whispered:

❝ Thank you, thank you, thank you,❞ Over and over again, before his breath caught and he had to make a pause. ❝ Yona... I love you so much.❞
