event masterlist
The gala wasn't what Kyle had expected. Hal had warned him that they tend to be boring, and asked him to prepare for a lot of meaningless conversations with the rich.
The boredom lasted through the first hour, up until Kyle found himself by one of the buffet tables right next to you.
The conversation flowed easily between the two of you, but with even more ease it turned flirtatious. He was shy about flirting at first, worried that he was taking your smile the wrong way. You were so handsome, so electric, Kyle didn't know if you really were interested in him or if you were just being polite.
"Did you say that line to every man here or am I special?" You teased, resting your hip on the table.
"Only the handsome ones," Kyle winked, letting himself come closer. "You just happen to be the only one."
You rolled your eyes, taking another sip of your champagne.
You moved behind Kyle, grabbing his arm. It was then that he noticed Bruce standing behind you and watching the two of you closely.
"Why don't we take it somewhere more quiet?" You suggested, smiling when Kyle snaps back at you and nods.
He let you drag him away, brushing it off as a coincidence. Bruce was probably just watching the entire room and his eyes fell on the two of you just as you moved away.
Only when Kyle looked back as you drew back a curtain did he realises that Bruce's eyes never left the two of you.
"(Name)?" Kyle called out to get your attention. "Bruce Wayne is staring at us. Do you... know him, is he like friends with your parents?"
"He is my parent," you giggled. "Don't worry, big boy, he wants to hurt you when you're with me," You patted Kyle's chest before walking into a dark hallway.
Hal found himself next to you together just as you and Kyle disappeared behind the curtains. He could only imagine what Bruce would do to him, knowing that out of everyone, Hal picked Kyle.
"I'm sorry about him. All, uh, make sure he stays away," Hal promised, scratching the back of his neck.
"Too late," Bruce sighed, his eyes locked on the curtains you and Kyle disappeared behind. "I don't want him to break my son's heart."
Hal nodded, waiving down a waiter. Maybe there was a chance he and Kyle would see the sun again.
"You should pray (name) looses interest first," Bruce snarled, grabbing Hal's arm and squeezing it. "I don't need to kill you to put you both in hell."
A shiver ran down Hal's spine.
