How did you write a 7 chapter fic with exactly 77777 words? That's the real magic. 🎇🦙🦄

If so, it was accidental magic. 😂😂😂😂

Part of me just really, really wants to take credit for having planned it that way because I hate to disabuse anyone from the notion that I'm that clever, but honestly it was just...serendipity. Unless I have a set wc, I try not to pay much attention to it, and when I turned the fic into the mods, I think it was like 77,943 or something???? But then of course, before reveals, I ended up tweaking a bunch of stuff, cut several hundred words and put others in (as you do when you're nervous and have time to sit with your nerves), and upon debuting, it actually had 77,776 words. 😂 And then, I was lurking in the drarry discord channel, biting my nails, and someone commented about the wc, how everyone's ocd was flaring over it (a funny comment, not crit or anything), and I took a look and, oh! Wow! Yeah!

So I found a spot to add a word.

(Between you and me, I really, really considered adding two, just to fuck with everyone. 😂)

But I'm glad it worked out this way. I love the uniformity of it; I just wasn't in the headspace after writing to pay much attention to that sort of thing.

He’s seriously the best, such a lovable little weirdo, and I totally resonate with his grandiose posturing to cover social insecurities. And his playful needling when he likes people. And his deep rooted fear that everyone thinks he’s annoying.

Excerpt:

“Why’d you—? I thought we were gonna—I thought we were gonna show them how well we’re—”

“Ah, you—you get so horny when I bother you,” Draco tells him, mouth wet and messy against Harry’s cheek. Harry presses closer, harder, and Draco’s breath stutters out of him.

“God that’s bad,” Harry says, though it’s true, embarrassingly so. Harry kisses him deep and drops one hand to fumble with the complicated buttons of his trousers. He says quietly, “You’re insufferable.”

Draco gasps out a laugh. “And yet,” he says, hips moving, “suffer me you do.”

It wasn’t a lie, precisely, when he told Pansy that relationships didn’t alarm him. More a half-truth. Bodies and touching don’t alarm him, but the other stuff, the non-physical; well, he’s seen enough during the war and after, seen that humans are messy creatures when they blur their borders with other humans. Illogical, unpredictable. But then Harry Potter has always defied logic, hasn’t he? No touching needed.
