Series premier, soundtrack and more!

Greetings!

Been gone for a while (summer and autumn took a lot out of me and I had to step back from tumblr) - but I’m back, in time for the series premier.

If you didn’t know, series 2 of His Dark Materials premiered yesterday on the BBC! However, if you’re elsewhere in the world, you’ll have to wait - as the HBO premier is not until next week. 

There are tons of interviews and fun behind the scenes to catch up on if you want - like this BBC 1 interview with Dafne Keen and Amir Wilson! I’ll be posting some of those here as we go on. 

Also, if you’ve missed it, part of the Soundtrack is out on Spotify - The Musical Anthology of His Dark Materials Series 2! Some really interesting titles there.

GUYS THE FIRST SCRIPT SNEAK-PEAKS

The universe seems to be smiling at those of us wanting news about His Dark Materials today! 

From this exciting bit we have learned several things:

The first episode is called “Roger” (though this can of course change as production goes on)

We will begin in Lyra’s world.

We’ll probably start on what seems to be the northern lights? That would be my guess. 

EDIT: Also, main writer Jack Thorne is being cheeky with us on twitter, and I kind of love it.

BBC finally reveals who will play Lyra in His Dark Materials

Logan star Dafne Keen will play the lead character, while King's Speech director Tom Hooper will lead the new Philip Pullman adaptation

Now that the Radio Times has joined in to report on the news, without even citing Deadline, I think we can say that this is happening (though LMM is still just “reportedly in talks”).  

However, the part of this article that makes me most excited (apart from the casting) is this:

Ah, the return of the dreaded “soon”. BUT it does seem like we might be getting more casting details in the coming weeks!
