Hey, so I think that following your terms I would be a libfem but I am taking more and more interest in radical feminism. I am genuinly interested in some aspects of it but I just can't get behind some aspects. There are too many to fit in this ask, but for instance, I've seen a lot of biphobia in radfem culture and as a bi woman, I feel invalidated. I also notice a lot of ableism. I also have questions regarding sex positivity and expression of feminity. I am really open to discussion tho.
Sorry it took my so long to get back to you. I’ve just left an abusive relationship so things have been tumultuous for me to say the least.
For me at the end of the day, if you’re willing to stand up for the rights of girls and women’s (that being, females, not male-to-female transgenders) then that’s half the battle.
Myself? I’m bisexual. I was aware that I was sexually attracted to women from a young age and it wasn’t until I was mid-way through adolesence that I started to feel sexually attracted to men. In the same way that your wants, needs, desires and goals as a person change over time - so do the kind of people that you’re sexually attracted to. Aside from committing acts like bestiality, rape and incest (and there is a Marxist + feminist analysis to be made of kink/BDSM but that’s a different discussion,) what you and your consenting and age appropriate partner do is no-bodies business but your own. You and your sexuality (again, bar kink and BDSM, but that’s a different conversation as I say,) are no-one’s but your own. No-one has the right to dictate who you should and shouldn’t be attracted to.
And while I do see a lot of things thrown about on tumblr about bisexuality, one has to remember that a) at the end of the day, people who are really your friends aren’t going to give a shit about what sexual orientation you have,b) if it’s bagging out something about bisexuals that you don’t relate to, as the old saying goes - if it’s not about you, don’t make it about you,c) don’t put too much stock in individualist analysis like ‘privilege theory’ or various ‘phobias’ that gone thrown around willy-nilly on this site.
For an arbitarary example, despite being of a Polish Jewish background (with family who survived the Shoah), I’ve been accused of being a) a neo-nazi, b) a white supremacist and c) an undercover agent for Israel.
People on tumblr are fucking batshit insane and you should never let it bring you down or take it over into real life. It’s the internet.
