"Don’t look at me like that."
She rolled her eyes nonchalantly at the elder’s exclamation; the billiards was, in fact, a very precise match to what the petite girl would label as fun for a late friday evening enjoyment, however, the taller male across the pool table managed to corrupt completely the concept of the word as he decided to drag her along for a business night down the environment.
Ara felt the obligation to prize him silently for the well build strategy for an undercover investigation, arriving at the place accompanied and actually attempted to having a good time while dropping subtle and discrete inquires every now and then towards the waiters and costumers that approached their table to play a round or two had been a very intelligent tactics, especially since he was off duty. And playing chaperon for the brunette while her roommate was out in yet another business trip was also very cunning.
She could grow to respect him a little bit more after that night, perhaps.
“It’s your turn.” She shrugged her shoulders elegantly, bluntly ignoring his statement as she shifted her small frame closer to mutter under her breath, silently enough as for only the inspector could hear her velvet voice. “Also, I’m impressed as to your ability to drag me along for work, officer underpants, however, that will hardly win you any points, you know?” Mischievously glittered in display through her hazel orbs as she diverted her gaze to meet his eye.
“And you might want to talk to that charming waiter with the cute dimples; his voice went a pitch higher at the end of each word what probably means he was hesitant about telling you and most likely made whatever the issued was sounding a lot lighter than it was.” Ara quickly added, chuckling gently at the realization that her chaperon for the night had completely missed the ball and glanced her with something softer displaying in his darker orbs.
She could swear it was fatherly, perhaps even fraternal pride and it made her uncomfortable somehow.
“Don’t you look at me like that!” She hissed, as she tapped her cue against his shoulder. “I major linguistics, it should be obvious that I have a fairly vast knowledge of language patterns and how to read them accurately.”Ara left out a heavy sigh as she positioned the cue above her right hand, angling it for her turn.
“It does really run in your blood, huh?” The grin that decorated his handsome features rapidly vanished as she scored, making it the second consecutive victory of hers over him after several rounds of badly played games. “You better not be hustling me, pipsqueak! You know very well it’s against the law!” He roared, tapping her forehead slightly with his fingers. “Best of three and if you hustle me again, I will arrest you for breaking the law!”
“The law or your pride, officer underpants?” She inquired, innocence enveloping her velvet tune as she tilted her head in a teasing manner.
