"Rey comes of age by giving up on the idea of belonging rather than finding it" Rey already found her belonging with the Resistance. They're her new family, friends and community: the promo and actors' statements for TROS so far confirms as much. I'm not saying Ben isn't important to her, but he isn't required for her to find belonging and to be happy.

You’re ignoring the part where it was explicitly stated she feels apart from them and isolated by her powers.

But this is also absurd on the face of it because if that were the case, she found belonging in TJL and there’s no third movie because our protagonist is finished with her arc. In fact, she was finished in TFA and just needed a training montage. But that isn’t the case.

Rey is not deeply personally invested in the Resistance, that is not her journey or her goal. She’s coming of age and trying to discover who she is, how to live. Having friends has answered none of her Big Questions as a character. Her friends have never pushed her development forward. Who did? Who does in every interaction with her? Two guesses and the first one doesn’t count.
