jade has known since he first met her...that she is something other. human enough, but part of a bigger picture that he doesn't bother to dig too deeply into. content, as it were, to just bask in her presence. to take what she is willing to give him, one step at a time. the grimiore, the libarary-- it was charming, appealed to his love for disorder and chaos. organized harmony was so boring, and she embodied anything but. like the personification of all the things he fancied and favored.
so when he comes into her library again( a permission granted some time ago ), he's curious. he stands silently and watches, like he might some scuffle on nrc's campus. it feels as though he shouldn't see it, but that's just it isn't it? he sees a great deal of things he shouldn't. steals them away, and catalogues them for later. this though is for himself-- seeing her like this. she rarely shows this side of her character; eldritch and dark, whispering poison in another's ear. so strangely familiar...
and he can't help it, something instinctual, something animal. a small shiver that runs down his spine. it makes him smile, fidgeting with his own hand behind his back. as he waits for her to finish, for the grimoire to throw away this waste of their time. and skip to him, as she so often does. so they can spend his day off together: a walk in the woods, cooking together in the kitchen, a swim in the sea.
his smile grows brighter as soon as she approaches him. cheeks dusting a subtle shade at the term of endearment. he likes her so much! an arm curls around her back, and he leans down to plant a kiss right on her cheek. seemingly unbothered by what he just saw.
" i thought i'd surprise you. " a pleasant smile on his lips, heard in the tone of his voice. " i hope you don't mind. "
