It’s true when people say William seems to views Diana through the eyes of the institution while Harry views Diana through the eyes of a son.
Yeah, that’s accurate. From a young age William has had it drilled into him that protecting the crown becomes first. Everyone was constantly saying Diana was a threat to the institution, a loose cannon who was causing damage.
I know there were many reports he took Charles’s side during the divorce , for the reasons mentioned above, I still think that’s speculation. But it also wouldn’t surprise me if Charles and courtiers said things about Diana to William. Which is sad to think about.
I also think even before her death the trauma of what those boys saw her go through might’ve effected them differently. I know she struggled a lot, I don’t know what they saw. But there is that story of William pushing tissues under the bathroom door as his mother cried over tabloid stories written about her ( maybe Harry did that too idk). But maybe one of them feels resentment, or like a child shouldn’t have been doing that.
Or it could just be that his job is to protect the institution idk
I do think his comments on this are really awful though. It comes across as gaslighting and blaming her for her own death
