hey so book two. yeahhhhh
A while ago I was reading book 2 of investigators again (because i've run out of content to overanalyze in the later books,) and whilst i was nearing the end, I suddenly became conflicted with a well known fact in the books: water is one of Crackerdile's weaknesses.
Well, i suppose that statement is true. He'll just melt away whenever he comes into contact with it. However, a thing that strikes me as weird is that Daryl is a radioactive cracker. Would that not affect everyone else around him? Maybe not in a contained form, like with Crackerdile, but when hes Radioactidile there is a PHYSICAL effect when he comes into contact with objects: they heat up.
Radioactivity can be transferred through air when it's not contained, such as in the infamous Chernobyl disaster, where a nuclear power plant in Ukraine exploded. So when Daryl is Doughdile, or rather, transforming into Doughdile, shouldn't that have an effect on the people around him? Mango, Brash, and the Head Scientist?
Well, yes. To get specific, Wheat itself is highly radiosensitive, which means its susceptibility to radiation is a notable variable. Saltines contain wheat, so we can safely assume the crackers already are gonna have SOMETHING going on with them when you put them in the same room as nuclear waste. Animals are also highly affected by radioactivity, as seen again in Chernobyl where animals and plants are mutated and affected almost immediately.
The air pockets in saltine crackers are what give it that crackery crunch, but that's not a good thing if those air pockets are stored with radioactive chemicals. So when Daryl melts and those air pockets release, there would be radiation in the air around the characters. Soon after the effects of radiation poisoning would set in, to the people involved and to the environment around them.
Daryl ALSO SHOULDNTVE EATEN HIMSELF, but I guess being radioactive and eating something radioactive doesn't do much. I wonder if his cannibalism in the shorts can tie into his recklessness, which from what we can tell wasn't like this originally
