Here today I present you with some little Skate and BB doodles, and a minor headcanon yap session, if you would indulge me. Further context under cut.

Ever since the Splintered Skies lore drop I've been thinking about all of the Playground Phighters. Perhaps way too much. And I have some thoughts to share, this time regarding Boombox specifically (BB further on)

It has been established that BB abandoned his place at Splintered Skies to stay with Skate, even if that meant taking that massive drop all the way down to the ground and potentially losing his life. It has also been said that most exiled Inphernals don't make it to the ground alive, and that the Playground population makes an effort to save whoever they can. I like to think that while Skate and BB managed to survive, whatever measures were taken somehow faltered, which lead to BB severely damaging his eyes.

As a result of this, and his overall very close bond with Skate, I imagine that when they were still newspawns, BB would be very timid and tail behind Skateboard everywhere he went. This in turn (along with their entire upbringing honestly) is what inspires Skate to want to help those in need and make Playground, and Cranedust specifically a better place for everyone.

Damage on BB's eyes would also give context to the visor that he presently has. I imagine that visor was made by Coil as a gift for BB some time when they're older.

Decided to take a small break from my project (if you've been following my main blog, you know exactly what I'm talking about) to tell you guys all about android!Charles and his... ahem, special specs.

It comes w/ a little history: when Project SAI was still in business, they made a deal w/ the CCC: they would regulate any chaos that would happen within the complex and they would get a few androids for free in exchange, working to train them right away the minute they were off the press. They designed the self destruct system for the complex and were able to install some special tools within the androids to help them combat specific chaos scenarios.

Unit CC, later renamed Charles, had specs for these tools hidden within his files, encrypted heavily. Luckily, Dr. V was able to recover them and some of the tools he was implemented with. Here's the full suite (or somewhat) of Charles' special weapons.

Ghost Vision (Specter-photometer)

Charles has a multitude of visions in order to help him see and assess situations. One of those visions is ghost vision, which allows him to see ghosts and what they look like. He can't talk to them unless they want to talk to him. He had this vision even when he was fixed up by his dad. He was later given a specteraudiometer so he could talk to the ghosts and the specs show that he was also given ghost busting equipment, though Dr V. has chosen not to reinstall this for personal reasons.

Magic De-stabilizer

A special tool used to destabilize any magic, including hypnosis magic. While it has it's limits, it's the most useful tool that Charles has, as he uses it whenever Ellie or Henry fall victim to accidental magic hypnosis.

Magic Absorption Array

Charles can absorb any magical attacks that come at him. Once again, it has it's limits (think the absorb fail from the Revenged ending), but so far Charles hasn't had to use it for anything extreme. He can even take the magic he's absorbed and actually fire it back at his opponent. This is the closest you'll ever get to Charles using actual magic.

Magic Detector

Charles can detect almost any kind of magic within a two mile (about 3.2 kilometers) radius. If it gives off a magic signature, chances are Charles is able to locate it. It's not a vision unfortunately, it's more like a metal detector, so he has to listen closely for the pings in order to locate the magic.

And that's pretty much all he's got. He had WAY more when he was working for the CCC, but most of it was ripped out when he was declared defective or discarded when he joined the government forces.

dragons use healing magic sparingly. it’s best used for small things, as it can weaken the surrounding tissues if the injury is too large. cuts, scrapes, etc, can usually be magically healed no problem. for larger wounds, gashes, broken bones, etc, magic is used to stabilize, but not completely fix it. it can help heal it faster, and make it so that it heals correctly, but that takes a couple sessions in order for the body to recover from the drain. too much healing too fast can leave an area permanently weakened.

BREAKING NEWS

Thank you saltybabiez, because our discussions brought about something I have the need to share. With the heart of TFoaCC complete, there is no way for me to add a little tidbit. So, It has come to my sudden attention that in Touken Ranbu Hanamaru Season 1, Episode 3, it is indeed Nikkari’s body pillow that comes into possession of the Samonjis. In turn, I have since realized Souza may have used said pillow as comfort during his days locked away in his room throughout the length of The Fear of a Child’s Cry.
