i imagine the 'puffball' species to be really sparkly and magical in more humanoid forms.

this does also makes them pretty recognizable, which is exactly why meta knight wears his kinda silly medieval knight getup. cant be recognized as an extremely rare species if no one can see you to begin with.

General puffball characteristics include: cheek marks, magic "tattoos", claws, fangs, shifting markings/colors, glowing/sparkling hair

the void-like pattern on his shoulder something that appears after injuries or strenuous magic use. they fade after a couple of weeks. actual scarring is extremely rare and usually only happens if the injury happened during infancy.

oh man, hitters having hearing damage is pretty much inevitable, isn't it

like I've slipped morse code into a few fics partly because I think it can be genuinely useful (the "whispers are always conveniently quiet enough not to get heard" thing works well for television, less well in more realistic scenarios) and partly just because I think that sort of in-joke/shared code is cute

but the real cuteness is looking up enough sign language to get started with and start incorporating it into your day-to-day routines and conversations now, before it's truly needed, even if your hitter gets grumpy when he realises it's for him.

(and again, in more realistic scenarios, a recognisable sign language is a good way to communicate silently when lip-reading is iffy at best.)

I feel like Sally probably knows about Jason before anyone else, and I feel like it's because she recognizes something in Thalia's performance of Fantine that nobody else does.

"This is probably overstepping, but...have you lost a baby? No, I'm sorry, that's way out of line and none of my business—"

Thalia, crying and laughing at the same time: "Fuck, I never thought about it that way, but yeah. You could say that."

And she just...releases the floodgates and admits she has a little brother who's Annabeth's age and she hasn't seen him since he was a toddler, and suddenly she's sobbing like she hasn't since she was nine, because people might understand her childhood sucked but nobody else has ever Understood her like this. Nobody else has ever Gotten It, has spent nights trying to ignore the gnawing hunger so big, innocent eyes can stay happy, has lived on the knife's edge of poverty while keeping a helpless little one feeling safe, has felt that vast crushing loneliness of knowing you're all that little one has in the whole entire world.

Sally Knew as soon as she saw that performance, and Thalia knew she Knew as soon as those arms came around her in the auditorium.

Introductory Post!

Because it occurs to me that lack of context might be an issue.

This is a part of @youarestellarverse, but it's way farther in the future than what I'm currently publishing. I wanted to contain my hyperfixation, so I made a side sideblog for it!

Basically, the thesis is: "Oh, hey, I'm genderfluid! What if Jason Grace is, too?" No, wait, brain—come back here, don't—aww, hell, it ran away from me again, dammit. GUESS I'M LEARNING TO DRAW NOW."

The main ship is Jercy, but I can't monoship to save my life, so it's also Jasabeth, Percico, Jasico and several others (at last count there were eleven people in the polycule 😂). Jason goes by Jason in boymode, and Ruby in girlmode. The URL of this blog is the same as Ruby's in-universe instagram account, on which she posts OOTDs and behind-the-scenes photos for Percy's music videos. Renée is Thalia's middle name, and Ruby chose to honor her sister/mom figure by making it part of hers too.

(Oh, yeah, Percy's a youtube musician!)

There are links to a few epistolary fics on Ao3, some fashion spam, a couple headcanon posts and some scribbles on the blog right now, but THERE WILL BE MORE. I'm pretty solidly stuck on this, lol.

- Alyx is a Warrior of Light, and in my personal canon she’s the only one. In most RP I have done thus far it hasn’t even come up, though--she doesn’t go around bragging about slaying primals and such. It might not even be A Thing depending on the kind of interaction/time and place/etc.

- both Alyx and Rhodry are in committed relationships in their respective ‘canon’ verses. This does not mean I’m 100% opposed to other ships (I do have other ships in AUs!), but that is the default mindset I am coming from, and neither are actively looking for romance or DTF. Shipping ain’t gonna happen without interest from both me and my character + a good rapport OOC

- Rhodry is a soft forest boy but also a trickster and not to be fucked with

- Alyx is a charming ‘people person’ but won’t let you close without some work
