Newt had been trying to patch up a Wampus Cat he had found injured. It was not native to their country side so it must have been brought there by someone, but it was injured. It couldn’t have been more than a few months old. Newt was trying to hold the creature and assess its injuries when Albus stumbled upon the scene. The Wampus Cat was thrashing and swiping at him, agitated and not at all enjoying being held at the moment. Newt frowned, feeling as though he wasn’t doing a very good job. “O-Ok…” he replied, stopping to let Albus come and help him.

It had taken a lot of talking, yelling, and magical tantrums but finally the two had been able to talk through the events.

Kiara was furious that Lyra had endangered herself. The what if’s running through her mind. But Lyra stayed adamant that this mage was of no threat. That he was kind and wanted to help. When Lyra showed her the crystal she was tempted to snatch it from her and destroy it. Fear that it was a trap.

Now she found herself in the shadows of a tree, watching as Lyra stood in the same field as before. The young fae looking around as if Albus would already be there. Giving a comforting smile to her sister, Lyra ran her thumb over his gift and muttered his name. She hoped he could tell it was more a request and that she wasn’t in trouble.

“I suppose I could, couldn’t I Albus?” Severus drawled out slowly, darkened eyes dragging themselves up towards his former mentor. If anyone else had said such words to him, suspicion would have been at the forefront of his mind, wondering whether they were attempting to trick him, or mock him, or something else equally horrible.

Yet Severus Snape was the only man Albus Dumbledore truly trusted, and such trust went both ways.

He took Albus’ hand tenderly in his own, lifting it up in order to press his own thin lips to the back of his fingers, what he hoped to be a sign of his deep respect for the older wizard. He then took a step closer before sealing their affection with another small kiss on the cheek, brief, gentle, small, yet indicative of how deep their friendship had been able sail despite treacherous conditions.

Severus wasn’t quite sure he’d ever knew what it meant to be ‘lucky’, but in that moment he supposed he had an idea.

She felt bad about this. For skipping so often. Defense Against The Dark Arts was difficult, even more so by the fact that most of the magic required you to feel a certain way. The tension of unease she felt towards the class was one thing, but the unease around Dumbledore was another. It wasn’t that she disliked him, the opposite in face, he had always been her favorite professor, but it was almost as though he always had a strange, acute awareness of the room around him. As someone who gets very nervous around her past, this was something that terrified her, making the class unbearable at most times.

The gift was Newt’s idea, it was something she was fairly proud about having worked it herself with original intention to give to her father though she no longer had means to do this without an owl and was too worried prideful to ask for someone else’s to send. Now, she’d found, she had a purpose for the gift she’d hand made when she went to Newts for a week in the summer.

With a shaking sigh and hiding the quill behind her back she knocked twice on the door, bouncing anxiously on the balls of her feet.

“P-professor? Might I talk to you for a moment?”

"Newton, your father and I had a great idea. How about for Valentine's day we all go on a double date. You bring your boyfriend along and we can meet him."

“T-That would be impossible as I-I don’t have a boyfriend..” he cleared his throat, “B-Besides, I-I have to take care of my creatures that night! No dates for me!” Internally screaming, Newt wanted to disappear.

“I-I just...need you to come,” he motioned for the man to follow him, “I-I think it’s father, he hurt himself.” A lie. Newt was lying. But for good reason. He never tried to pull one over on his parents though so they would likely trust him, right?
