Progress shot on the Jacket, which I have to say is coming out super well, I am impressed with the leg of mutton sleeves, just the ticket for a suffragette Lady of excellent social standing. I will be stitching up the facing and lining today. Quite looking forward to picking out buttons. And a question: Why do I call these art dolls Fetches? According to Wikipedia, a Fetch “is a supernatural double or an apparition of a living person” and it is the supernatural double aspect of the fetch that, according to some folklore type stories that I have heard, that witches use to travel into the spirit worlds. I have also heard that fetches are sometimes witches spirit familiars, which is how I use the word. These Art dolls, these Fetches are magical creations that are connected to spirits and spirit familiars. Many people have commented on how they feel a little bit different, to other art dolls. Now that I am reading two books, one on spirit dolls and one of healing dolls I would say that I have been making these kinds of dolls all along, but just didn’t have names for them as such. These Fetches are imbued with magic and spirit and are a joy to create. . a Friend recently pointed out that while I was making Fetches because they are a familiar thing in these scary times, they are also Familiars. . [Image Description. the Lady Karthyn Regina Bastet, of the Levin Bastet’s, stitting on my ironing borad, and modelling the partcially made jacket. It is made from blackand white hounds tooth woven fabric, and has lovely lace accents on the front pockets, and down the sleeves, which breaks up the mind bending hounds tooth.. oh and you can see the petticoat I made peeking from the bottom of her skirt. ] . #Fetch #artdoll #healingdoll #magic #bast #catgoddess #witch #magic #moderntraditionalwitchcraft #hedgewitchcraft #witchcraft #spritdolls #goddess #pollylindartist https://www.instagram.com/p/B-0cH9yHwSI/?igshid=1vkrzr9cf3uk8
