Wound Care Doctors: The Hidden Heroes of Healing

When we think of medical heroes, surgeons, emergency doctors, and specialists often come to mind. Yet behind the scenes, wound care doctors quietly transform lives every day.

A wound care doctor is often the key to recovery for patients with complex injuries. They treat stubborn wounds caused by diabetes, accidents, surgery, or prolonged hospital stays. These doctors don’t just focus on the physical wound—they work to restore comfort, mobility, and peace of mind.

Many patients arrive at a wound care clinic after weeks or months of struggling with an injury that won’t heal. By applying advanced medical techniques and personalized care plans, wound care doctors help wounds close faster and reduce the risk of infection. In many cases, they save patients from more serious complications—even amputations.

The truth is, wound care specialists are hidden heroes in healthcare. They bring compassion, expertise, and hope to people who thought they’d never heal.

LET’S MEET ANOTHER WRITER OF OURS! Here is a little quote from one of our writers, Josh Van Zant on why he enjoys writing in the Super Hero genre. Josh wrote the character “Dr. Derango!  "I've always been a fan of super heroes and the fantasy/sci-fi genre itself. The freedom of working around the bounds of normal life and give viewers the ability to expand their imaginations all make it worth it. Writing comedy allows me to explore on what weird possibilities heroes or villains come across as they try to find a little help for themselves. Writing for this series has also allowed for the experience of multi-arc storytelling and world expanding.

How “Healing Heroes” came to fruition

Here is our first post on our blog! For the ones who’ve been following us since the beginning. For the other people who are just hearing about us for the first time let me introduce ourselves. “Healing Heroes” is comedy/drama that centers around Dr. Henry Connors, a therapist that specializes in treating superheroes and villains. 

How did “Healing Heroes” come about?

Good question! Well in 2013, Writer/Creator Christopher Orangeo was having a conversation with some old college friends one day and of course the most ridiculous topic of conversation came up. What superheroes would you want to see in therapy? My friend, Keagan Anfuso, said she would pay money to see Batman and Catwoman in therapy. From that moment on, Christopher couldn’t STOP thinking about the idea. Superheroes in therapy. Knowing that he couldn’t use Batman and other super heroes for legal reasons, Christopher wrote up a little mock episode featuring other superheros from his feature length script he wrote for a college class back in 2012. With each day passing he became more confident in the idea. When Christopher moved back to his home state of New Jersey he was feeling confident that he had this project under his arm in case for a rainy day. That rainy day came in January of 2015. He attended a Film meeting in January of 2015 when a new friend of his, Joe Evaristo suggested Christopher attends and pitches the idea to fellow filmmakers as a web series. Christopher took it one step further and wanted to make something to pitch to networks. The rest has been history.

And that is the true beginning of how “Healing Heroes” went from a simple idea to something bigger then he could imagine back in 2013.

See these cyclists? They are healing heroes, injured veterans that ride as part of their rehabilitation and recovery. Inspiring and tough. And I am a lucky gal to get to do some public relations outreach for the Ride 2 Recovery Honor Rides and get to share their stories.

The second photo is of Matt DeWitt from Weare, NH; he is going to ride in the Honor Ride New Hampshire on July 27. And you know what? Someone stole his adaptive bike when he was on the multi-day Alaska Challenge Ride (the bike was later found, but come on, don't be mean, people!)
