Dear Diary,

I called her Mom today. It was by accident, honest. I mean I know she said I could call her that but… There’s something so different about thinking about it and actually saying it. You know? I’m just scared that I’m gonna get too dependent on her and then when the usual bad thing happens it’ll really hurt. I mean it hurt a lot with Quarters.

But you know. I kind of like the idea of having a mom. A roof over my head with warm food and bed time stories… It’s a lot better than living in a box that’s for sure.

Can’t get my hopes too high though. Sure this might be the longest time I’ve been off the streets. But it can end at any second. The odds are always against me so I have to be ready for whatever they throw.

I just hope they decide to throw it at me and not her. She’s nice. She doesn’t deserve bad things to happen to her.
