You woke up to the smell of bacon sizzling. Your eyes open slowly, warm sleepiness clinging to you like it’s trying to pull you back into unconsciousness.You wake up slowly, bit by bit. There’s no rush. You’re tangled in blankets warmed by body heat, your legs and lower abdomen a little bit sore but in a good, warm, satisfying way.Eventually you do roll out of bed. The air is cold on your naked body so you grab the closest thing to cover you - his shirt. It hangs off of your thin frame like an oversized dress.
You walk into the kitchen and just have to pause in the doorframe and smile at the scene in front of you. He’s bent over the stove in just boxers and an apron with three pans and a kettle going and that attentive look he’s always got when he’s cooking.
“Smells amazing, babe.”
He looks up from what he’s doing and gives you that warm, sweet smile you fell in love with years ago and that still makes your heart skip a beat. Then his brow furrows a bit
“Dat’s my shirt.”
“You want it back?”
“I couldn’t find it.”
Without another word, you slip it off over your head and let it fall to the floor. His eyes go wide. You can’t help but grin. Your body has changed a little bit over the years, your thighs and stomach have become a bit softer, new scars decorate and discolor your skin. But he still stares at you like you’re the hottest thing in the world. You’re already heading back to the bedroom, knowing he will follow.
“Turn the stove off first, babe. Don’t burn the house down.”
