STARTER CALL, NOT ACCEPTING ( ... ) FEATURING VESPERA DZHUROVA AND CARLISLE CULLEN. @healrot.
𝓣he persistent mist and slate-grey-blue skies greeted her like an old friend … this was the place where the firs grew tall, branches stretching up towards the firmament in hopes that they at last might be able to catch but a single droplet of the hidden golden sun. Not today, she thought. Not today. The trees nonetheless had seemed to part and sway around her like a guide during her drive up that gnarled old road towards the great glass fortress of the woods. She had sent no warning, no prior indication of her arrival — not even through a letter, or a call. Then again, she hadn’t exactly planned to be here, either … but how much could it hurt, really, to drop in on an old acquaintance bearing gifts?
❛ Do you have any room left in that house of yours for a few more things? ❜ Vespera spoke with no greeting, merely a question and a proposal. Mischievous and lively as she leaned against the trunk of her car that toted precious antiquities previously lost to time, or lost to thieves. She had thought about returning it to the churches, the museums … but then she thought that they had quite enough stuff already, and weren’t exactly searching for this anyway. Maybe, just maybe, he’d like to hang on to it for a little while. ❛ It’s Venetian, from 1324. Tempera on a poplar panel. Some Byzantine influence, and it used to be the center piece of a triptych, but I think it stands well on its own. Would you like to see? ❜
