Coworker&bf!Clark + hearing loss!reader
Coworker!Clark who figures out you wear hearing aids before you even have the need to tell him because he notices you have the same tendencies has his older parents. In crowded spaces you often zone out, and if someone starts talking to you, you start focusing intently on their face and sometimes even tilt your head so your ears are facing more directly toward the speaker.
Coworker!Clark who notices you fidget with your ears more often than any regularly hearing person would even despite your numerous piercings. Once, in an early morning conversation, he caught sight of the thin wires making their way into your ears and suddenly your little conversation habits make more sense.
Coworker!Clark who suddenly starts speaking towards you in conversation instead of at his computer screen or the half-broken coffee machine in the break room. He starts beginning conversations with you by clearly stating your name or grabbing your attention by putting himself in your sightline before ranting about his most recent deadline or his chaotic cousin and her even more chaotic canine who crashed (at) his place for the last couple days.
Boyfriend!Clark who finally asks about details of your hearing loss and how he can better accommodate to you in your home lives. He becomes more aware of his volume when speaking to you, the volume of his music, the radio, the tv, and even his morning alarm. He got used to closed captioning surprisingly quick.
Boyfriend!Clark who asks you to teach him some basic signs so he can communicate better with you in the morning when you havent yet put in your hearing aids or aren't awake enough to try to conprehend what he's trying to say to you. He loves when you walk out of the bedroom so he can ask "How are you?" and "You want coffee? Food?" He loves seeing your quiet morning side as much as he loves hearing you loudly debating Jimmy in the Planet bullpin after lunch over whatever menial topic you've both decided on today.
Boyfriend!Clark who likes to wind down his days with you, chatting idly over dinner or during commercials while curled up on the couch. He loves leaning in to you to speak directly next to your ears, ensuring you hear every syllable. Before you go to sleep he likes to tell you his 'I love you' s the same way before gently kissing your forehead, already excited to wake up next to you in the morning.
