-steps up the the podium- Iris isn't particularly a fan of the color pink, but she had all her good clothing packed for moving in to her new house and only had a pink hoodie to throw over her clothes when she was isakaied.
Probably should've thrown a water mark on this sucker, but I'm risking it. Mica, a protag of a future title in the Heartguards series. I wanted to draw something for fun rather than just for work, so here he is.
Wasn't in the mood for sprite work the past couple of days, and needed to work on stuff that I could share here, so here we have an Iris ref sheet! Still a WIP, but I've put a lot of work into it so far.
The Bronze Dagger Masterpost:
About the Story:
The Bronze Dagger is an isakai story--a girl named Iris from our Earth is sent to a strange, new world called Ornet upon discovering a book and a dagger made of bronze. Ornet is more of a high fantasy setting, at least during this story. Iris realizes early on that she is in a story of some kind, and thinks that if she is to ever make it home, she must finish her part in this story. She finds herself drawn into the player in a prophesy: 'A hero from another land will arrive with a dagger made of bronze and rid the world of all Remorse.'
This legend has strange meaning within the world. No one knew what it meant until dark, shadowy monsters seemingly made from only hate and despair appeared within the world and began wreaking havoc. These monsters were dubbed 'Remorse', thus sending people into a bit of a frenzy looking for this 'dagger of bronze'. In searching for a way to destroy Remorse, however, a solution was found. Weapons could be enchanted with magic that could destroy these creatures. Those weapons were dubbed 'Heartguards'.
However, after beginning her attempts to find the way to finish her 'story' to find a way home, she meets a strange sprite named Jazz who begins to guide her journey. Jazz begins to uncover that there is far more too this story than meets the eye, and if there's any chance of Iris making it home by finishing her 'story', there are far bigger things to take care of than Iris initially believes.
That's all I'm going to put out there, as I want people to be excited and want to play the game to find out more!
There are other ideas floating in my head to create more games within this world, most featuring Iris once more, as a reincarnated hero, but that's a long while down the line.
About the World:
The world is known as 'Ornet'. A high fantasy setting within this game, though it will evolve with later entries as time passes within the tales. Much about the world is revealed during the story. May add more later.
About Iris:
Iris is a college student who knows little to nothing about fighting, at least in 'The Bronze Dagger.' I won't be getting further into this at the moment.
Concept art of Johansson, with and without shirt
Face sprites so far!!! Iris, Jazz, and Nero.
About the Heartguards Series
The series began existence as a novel that I wrote, titled 'The Bronze Dagger'. However, I never wanted to write novels. I always dreamed of making video games! However, I had no confidence in my drawing skills at the time, and didn't believe I could successfully make a game on my own, and that I'd never be able to join game team.
However, that has changed now. Now, I am confident in my abilities. I am happy with where my art is at, know a bit of coding, and have found RPG Maker MV (the engine the game is being made within), and with it, the way to make the game I always envisioned 'The Bronze Dagger' as!
This is just the start of the project. I'm learning the software, making maps, making sprites, and 'translating' the novel into a script-like format for ease of programming. A friend of mine is going to do music for the game. I have no real estimate to when this game will be completed. I want it to be right. I want it to be complete. I would love to have it finished and in testing by the end of the year, but that doesn't seem realistic, especially due to me being a disabled individual.
I also discovered just how short 'The Bronze Dagger' is! I'm not fully surprised. It was my first original work of any length, and honestly, the first story of novel length I ever wrote. I have a plan to expand it without diluting the plot at all, but that will take time and energy as well.
