Recommendations (Hope tumblr doesn't eat this...)

So…I haven’t submitted to you in a long time (I actually did but I guess Tumblr ate it…) and just in case, I wanted to say that the reason is because in the many times Hackbent paused, I discovered some other fanventures to my liking and I wanted to share them with you :33

Hexane - I suppose you’ve already heard of it but recommending it anyway. Starts out as your typical fanventure, until it throws in a very unexpected twist and then works from there. Is lengthy, so very suitable to spend some free time with. Favorite character: Probably Nina.

Redditstuck - Ironically, yes. Fanventure about the users who were on the subreddit that’s now locked due to spoilers. The usage of ‘next’ reminds me of Problem Sleuth. Nostalgic feel to it. Favorite character: Not yet decided.

Vast Error - I think you’ve heard of this too, still recommending it. A few lovable trolls get into Sgrub Skorpe. Alchemical motifs, which I like very much. Favorite character: Albion, she resembles a character from the last recommendation linked (not telling bc spoilers!)

Alabaster - The title page already reveals it, it’s not for Kankri’s and the like. Lengthy, so another thing to kill time. I especially recommend this to you, because it has a cool Art Shift and even some runes! Favorite character: Renart, by far.

Freeroam - Not a very long adventure yet, is however setting up to something amazing (the fact not everyone is revealed is cool) and the accompanying newest flash actually kept me in some good tension. Favorite character: Arron, mainly because Ace Attorney.

Hearthlocked - You like Hackbent, right? You’ll like this. Favorite character: Omeii, I always think about how Cyrill would interact.

Cult Following - Has a old, medieval feel to it. An acolyte accidentally messes up severely when his cult tries to summon a god, so he has to tag along with a thief and a mystic to fix it. Nice style. Favorite character: Sister Embers and Gil.

And because I’m a sucker for ontological mysteries / non-fanventure, I’m also including these three:

Chiasmata - To be honest, this is one of the only fanventures I’m reading which has such a big and great world of lore that’s created around it, I’m still figuring it all out - it’s a bit like the kind of people who go all theorize about the mechanics. Sixteen, eh, twelve, people get stuck in a bizarre place and find out they’ve got strange powers. Favorite character: That’s a hard one. I like everyone, but if I have to choose… Leo.

The Human Game - I always say it’s like Chiasmata and Alabaster combined. Nine people get stuck in another facility and quickly discover some evil force has locked away their humanity. Manages to keep things mysterious with the rusty drawing style without resorting to much sex and violence, which I dislike. Favorite character: Seth and Connor.

Superego - Oh, I could go on ages on why. The plot is fairly simple: ten people are stuck in a hospital. There’s a reason I made a translation of it in my language. To translate the transcription I gave it: ’As soon as he awakes, Sam Herbert doesn’t know how fast he wants to leave from the creepy, old building with its excentric inhabitants. But when the situation is painted in an entirely different light, his life unwillingly gets tangled with that of the colorful saints and sinners of the hospital. He quickly discovers this is a dangerous game. For who is behind the bizarre texts on the walls and the constantly changing rooms? Is there a curse on the inhabitants? Or is it just this weird old building that’s causing trouble? Without knowing it themselves, they walk straight into the dangerous web of the dark history that’s hanging in their heads.’ Favorite character: Everyone, but if I have to choose…Louis.

So yeah, these are my recommendations on fanventures. Enjoy!

HEARTHLOCKED

We’re back to Homestuck Sburbventures! Don’t Worry, in 2017 there are A LOT more where Sburb is concerned. I guess since Hearthlocked isn’t providing me anything to talk about, I’ll go over that when I say “Sburbventure” I mean the genre that descended from, like, Homestuck itself. The game doesn’t have to be refered to as “SBURB,” as long as the actual “Entry Sequence->Prospit/Derse” and enough of the details are the same, then it’s considered a SBURBVENTURE.

Oh wait Maybe I spoke too soon; there’s like, an OFF Elsen on this guy’s desktop screen? That’s always at least a good or interesting sign. Getting into OFF is like the opposite of a Red Flag for me. I guess also the UI design of this fanadventure’s very good. Those purple buttons are just DYING to be pushed…

Okay never mind there’s a huge cardboard stand-up image of the guy from “We Are Number One” in the middle of this troll’s room. I guess getting into OFF as an artistic decision isn’t the green flag I thought it was? I say this because if you haven’t already noticed, I kind of…don’t like Meme Culture.

You know…I don’t sometimes know why authors switch characters all of the sudden. Like, Suddenly a troll will be telling you about this one Fetch Modus, and then suddenly BAM you’re somebody else. Like. Go back and read Homestuck, often times if there’s a sudden transition it’ll reference that fact that suddenly we’re just a whole other person. It’s not just. Dropped on you.

Overall, there’s nothing I depise in this one, it’s just…bland. Unexciting. I guess the trick to one of these things is to find the Troll Sburbventure that fits in with YOUR atheistic, and then just champion that all the way to the bank. It’s still updating to this day, which is impressive, so…yeah. I’m just going to move on from this one.
