- STARTER FOR ( @heartofruins )
MARRIAGE; it was something of legend, of lore, of a dream - and that’s exactly what it had been in his case. he’d barely expected to live through his rebellion years let alone find a woman who would put up with him and eventually MARRY him. ( shocking to say the least. ) if he were being entirely truthful, getting married was never something that tormented jace’s thoughts and they certainly never entered his dreams - until a particularly adorable red-head fell into his life and he had found himself wishing for things he never had before-hand. needless to say, after all had been said and done; valentine was dead, jonathan had been defeated, and their chaotic lives had seemingly gone back to normal... ( as normal as it was going to get for SHADOWHUNTERS anyway. ) proposing to clary didn’t just seem like the right thing to do, or the right time to do so - it was something jace HAD to do.
it was a strange feeling, the day his mind had been clear about what he had to do, like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders, the clouds surrounding his world had cleared and the sun had begun shining once again. ( he would later utter those words to clary in bed one evening; to which she burst into a hysteric bubble of laughter which embarrassed him. ) BUT ALL THE SAME, his life didn’t have meaning if he wasn’t completely and utterly tied to his little red-headed queen. and even now - just minutes before they would be standing in front of a parade of people who loved them dearly, that feeling was as strong as it was the day he’d popped the question, to which most of them had first thought, and he had suspected clary had too, that it was a move of impulse desire. something he would regret and get out of later when the adrenaline of the entire war was over.
- not a damn chance. he was in this one for the long haul. eternity and nothing less.
the chatter that had echoed throughout the hall started to die down, just as the butterflies in his stomach started their rampage, his body froze - mostly with anticipation; wanting to turn around before any music had begun so he could lay eyes on the love of his life...
