as per the tags, I’m asking about it: what all does this wonderful abbacchio gets along with giorno because he’s baby au entail? Because I’m so here for it

so the basic premise of this au was that i wanted to make a giorno who is Softer than other giornos bc the concept interested me

(i call this one softgio)

i put it behind a cut because uh. it turned out REALLY long

this au is called viti contorto (”twisted vines” tho google will tell you “screws” not vines bc the word in italian is the same)

think like. instead of giorno’s usual roughly 50/50 balance of jonathan and dio, he kinda ended up swinging like 75% jonathan and 25% dio. roughly.

as a result we’ve got a sweeter and more genuine giorno who, once pack-bonding with you, would legitimately follow you into hell and get you out of there alive.

he’s still ambitious just not as much. the main difference is that he doesn’t toy with and mock his enemies and though he recognizes when he has to kill someone, he does so swiftly, seeing no point in prolonging suffering

in other words he’s baby, if baby killed people who threaten his family

but here’s the twist

gold experience functions differently in this au! it still has the general “give life to things” ability as in canon but

instead of the “punch a living thing and drive it crazy with overwhelming amounts of life energy” (you know, that ability that araki forgot about or elected to ignore),

it drains life from living things and either disperses that energy without purpose into everything around or converts it into vines that form sort of a protective barrier

giorno cannot control this ability

his stand in this au officially awakened earlier than in canon - he was probably about 10, and it was a counteroffensive mechanism as a result of his stepfather’s abuse

cue his hair turning gold, his stepfather’s body dying and then crumbling to dust, and walls of vines bursting up around him.

the house crumbles, his mother discards him, and though he eventually discovers its primary abilities are not to kill - giorno grows up fearing gold experience‘s hidden ability and chooses not to use it, especially because he has no idea how to trigger nor control it.

ultimately he’s got basically the same goals as canon giorno, which is to infiltrate passione and dismantle the drug trade however he can, along with whatever else he personally doesn’t like

he learns how to act cold, but bucciarati sees right through him and welcomes him in

so here’s where it gets interesting

yes giorno still killed polpo in this au. however. he flat-up. tells the rest of the bucci gang. “i did it and here’s why” and like. none of them really liked polpo that much anyway so they’re like alright and just accept it and move on

thus dismantling the first thing that makes abbacchio distrust canon giorno

abbacchio’s first impression of giorno is kinda something like. this boy’s gonna get himself killed joining us but maybe he was eventually gonna get himself killed anyway so i guess i’m just gonna have to look after him.

vc abba does not view giorno as a threat to bucciarati’s safety. and giorno only views abba as an ally and eventually as family. they get along pretty well.

it’s abbacchio who eventually talks giorno into trying to learn to control gold experience’s other ability, and giorno opens up to abbacchio about his past. hold on i have it written somewhere.

“It’s scary to live and just as scary to be able to decide whether someone lives. But I’ll help you. You helped Bucciarati, like he helped me; you deserve to be helped too, for once. I might as well complete the circle.”

they’re practically inseparable

(until abbacchio dies, that is)

anyway with that all said i have some side comments about general stuff

giorno’s eyes are pinkish-purple mostly for fun but also because 1) i like playing with colors and 2) it’s a hint at gold experience’s life-draining ability and its correlation with vampirism.

just like how his hair was black before GE really awakened, his eyes were originally canon’s blue-green.

(koichi has the shock of his life when he meets giorno. “uh jotaro-san. this picture is from a while ago right?” “yes why” “well - you know! just uh!! just asking!”)

i intentionally made his hair lighter than my other giornos because the moment GE‘s ability first activated, it was even more of a rush of energy and essentially shocked his hair blond. i’m feeding off of a really old fandom of mine and just having hella fun with it.

this giorno wears butterflies, not ladybugs, and the heart shapes in his hair coils were very intentional! plus more feathers in his design <3 he’s supposed to look huggable and approachable because he is

fugo doesn’t get along with him at all initially, until the illuso fight where giorno realizes that maybe they’re more similar than either of them suspect, and after talking through everything with abbacchio, giorno confesses to fugo that he, too, has an ability he’s scared of

they get along really well after that and fugo comes with them after the events at san giorgio maggiore, because softgio kinda has that effect on people - they trust that he’s making the right decision because he isn’t hiding anything and because he is 100% genuine.

Yeah I can’t tell you how much excitement I have for scar and Elric interactions to come in this fic. Like. Please. I’m SO hype. It will likely be all I talk about for a bit to follow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I mean that’s just me with TGS in general

It honestly probably hurts Scar a lot, because if his brother could see the Elrics...he would’ve been so proud and so excited. I like to think that they knew she had two sons, but the war was heating up and she was a member of the Amestrian military, so they all thought it was safer not to communicate as much...but then Trisha retired and Scar lost his entire family (well, immediate family, the Lieb family goes on and on ;]). But they’ve got so much in common with his brother that it hurts a lot, but its also a bit cathartic.

And maybe a hardened alchemist killer shouldn’t be breaking down hugging his (first? second? idk) cousins, but they won’t tell.

Is there a story (read or watched) that you’d say helped you grow into who you are today? Because I will be totally honest when I say I watched naruto in my formative years of like, third grade onward? So it has actually shaped me as a person quite a bit.
