The leer smiled down at the lad and took the small parcel. He’d been down below deck for several hours since they’d departed. No doubt the Lieutenant would be getting quite bored with his station on deck with Baribus not there to participate in their usual game of pranks. However, the laggard had a letter to write and he was quite intent upon it.
“Thank you my boy,” Baribus said with a nod and a smile before pausing and putting a knuckle to his chin. This was a new face to him, a young lad possibly twelve or thirteen.
“Hmm. I don’t think I’ve been acquainted with you yet,” he remarked and extended his hand. “I am Baribus Thatch, and you are?”
