Little Rose Coloured Train wreck Part two
Cw/TW: Riddle x Trey, Riddle angst, mentions of homophobia, angst to comfort, breakdowns.
-----
Trey had just entered the dorm, as he had come back from a grocery trip because the kitchen had run out of several ingredients needed for baking and he was finishing putting the groceries away when he became aware of the sounds of crying coming from Riddle's office. He froze, dropping the bad of flour he was holding before the baker started sprinting to Riddle's office. Trey opened the door with a thud, honey coloured eyes widening at the sight of his friend.
Riddle was on his knees, hands clasping his now messed up red hair as he sobbed. A broken tea cup lay next to the door, tea seeping into the carpet from between the porcelain shards. Trey just stared at the scene, before he pushed his glasses up and hurried to Riddle's side, kneeling down next to his friend. "Riddle?.." he asked softly. The red head looked up sharply, tears ruining the slight eyeliner he had put on. "T-trey?.." he whispered through his sobs. Trey nodded, pulling his friend in tightly. Riddle stared in shock, suddenly met with the feel of Trey's shirt against his cheek and his heartbeat in his ear. He flushed, but then the shame came back. Clouding his mind and drawing more sobs.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." Riddle choked out, hands clenching Trey's shirt tighter as waves of hurt and anger and sadness rolled through him like an angry tide. "Hey now, why are you sorry? I'm not mad at you." Trey murmured, trying to calm Riddle down but that just seemed to upset the dorm leader more. "That's the problem Trey! That's the whole problem!" He snapped, breathes heavy and words choking on his tears like they ran down his throat and not his face. "You're never mad! I've hurt you for.. for years and not once have you defended yourself! I've been so... horrible! Just because I can't let you go! And you let me!... why did you let me?!" He was hitting Trey now, no strength behind the fists that thudded against Trey's chest as he tried to push him away. Tried to make him angry. Maybe if he left him Riddle could continue to pretend. As much as he wished to cling to him, to keep his hold tight.. his mother wouldn't ever find out.
Trey grabbed Riddle's wrists, looking at him in alarm. "Riddle what has gotten into you? You're my best friend I'm not going to leave you OK?!" Riddle looked away. He couldn't bear to look into those kind, honey eyes. Not after his revelation. "But I want you to! If.. if you go away I can continue pretending I'm fine and that I don't!.." Riddle caught himself, taking in a deep breath and letting it out as his face turned red with shame. "Pretend that you don't what?.." normally Trey wouldn't push but whatever Riddle wasn't saying was clearly hurting him. "Don't what!?" Trey snapped. Riddle glared, anger overtaking his senses. "PRETEND THAT I DON'T HAVE A CRUSH ON YOU IDIOT!" He snapped, before his eyes widened in horror and he pulled himself out of Trey's grip. Trey blushed before he tilted his head and he looked at Riddle in concern.
"Is this what's been hurting you? The fact you might be gay?.." Riddle looked away. "...I can't be.." "Riddle it's OK if you a-" "you don't understand Trey!" Riddle couldn't back down. "My mother.. she'd.. she'd kill me if she knew. And you.. I knew you'd hate me if I told you.. well more than you do now.." Trey sighed, pulling Riddle into a hug and sitting down properly. "Riddle I like you too..." Riddle's eyes widened and he pulled away to stare at Trey.
"Y-you do?" Trey nodded, "For a while now, I just never said anything because I thought you were straight." Riddle blinked and a little bit of the chains that had wrapped around his hearts loosened. "Oh thank God... but.. what about my m-" "We don't have to tell her. That is, if you want us to be anything more than friends." Riddle looked at Trey, then down at the floor as he wiped the tears from his eyes. "I... I would like that.."Trey smiled softly before he pulled riddle close again m, tucking the smaller boy's head under his own. He loved riddle. He truly did. His mother was going to suffer an awful fate however...
