Derek Hale hated working in teams. He really fucking hated it. He was not a people person. He never had been in his time working for the government so why they had decided to pair him with someone still confused and irritated him. Yeah, he was supposed to watch if she made any signs that she was aligned with France, but they could have given the job to literally anyone else.
Yet here he was. In Germany with the woman he was sure was working with the French. She spoke the language a couple times on the phone and he guessed she had no idea that he was also fluent in it. They had been going over the plan for what felt like hours but he knew it was only about thirty minutes. “So we go there and you want me to stay behind in the hotel while you go and watch the exchange?” Fat chance. He didn’t say that but it was very clear in his voice that he wasn’t just going to wait around and let her be hands on while he sat like a puppy in the hotel room. That was not how he worked.
His arms crossed over his chest, green eyes narrowing the more and more he thought about it. She must think he was weak or stupid or maybe both if she believed he was just going to let her do everything for them. “Did you forget the part when they said we both have to be there? That you and I are supposed to be some sort of team in all this?” She had nice dimples and eyes and her laugh was alright which was the only thing saving her at the moment. Otherwise he would have ripped her to shreds with his words and body language. He was tense, tenser than she had probably ever seen him. “I’m going with you and there is nothing that can come out of that small mouth of yours that will convince me not to.” And she better not try to because he knew that would be a red flag. “Understand, beautiful?”
