so like, just watched ‘swarm’. much to say, many thoughts, will ruminate on those.
but you know what i can’t shake? the fact that from the coverage i’d seen on socials and advertising, i thought billie eilish was the main character…
what an absolutely huge disservice to dominique fishback. and chloe bailey and kiersey clemons and heather simms too.
but dominique especially was fabulous in that role. really, really wonderfully well acted. and i just can’t help but feel that the character draws parallels to other very popular characters played by white actors who walked away with much more acclaim than she’s getting. billie was cool too, don’t get me wrong, but dominique is the star.
and rightfully so.
