Since Trump's return to power, Democrats have so far flipped 30 state legislative seats.

State legislatures are the base of the constitutional pyramid in the US. If you are looking to take a more active political role this year, helping a Democratic candidate for state legislature is an excellent way to do so.

Over 85% of the states are having legislative elections this year. Flipping a GOP seat is awesome wherever it happens. Though some states like Wisconsin will be getting more attention than most.

To help out, contact the DLCC here. Or contact your county or state Democratic Party and tell them you'd like to help out in a state legislative campaign. Franklin Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, and Barack Obama were all state legislators early in their careers. So you could be rubbing elbows with a future historical figure.

Do a prompt where the Mishima and Williams family are normal and Lee meets Richard when Anna invites him to her house

Anna was nervous. For the first time in the history of the Williams, they were going to have a peaceful dinner. Although, these hopes were probably foolish.

She asked her mother to leave the dinner to her while she rested, but Heather never been a lazy woman, so she decided to prepare a delicious strawberry trifle as a dessert.

Nina was just generally uninterested. Anna dated a lot of guys and this probably wouldn't be any different. In some weeks, they would be shouting at each other on their porch, Anna would spend 3 days in her room watching sappy stuff and then would emerge back like a stupid phoenix.

Richard, however... He was a case of his own. His mood was sour. More sour than it usually was. Heather tried to explain to her daughter that this was just because Richard was dealing with things at work.

Anna didn't care either way. Showing her weird family to Chaolan was the ultimate test and most guys didn't pass it. She really liked him and if he couldn't take this, she would move on even if it broke her.

7 PM sharp, Chaolan parked his car in front of the Williams' residence. It was a simple house at the suburbs of Tokyo. The family moved in when the girls were 13, after Richard was transferred to the Japanese branch of Interpol after a successful collaboration in catching some Yakuza-related criminals. Lee has heard this story before, but it was still amazing to see how well blended the gaijin family was in the environment.

He was bearing gifts. Potted flowers for Heather, a mini cake to Nina, a bottle of scotch to Richard and a special present for his girl. He knocked on the door and Anna happily came to reply.

"There you are!" She looked adorable in that summer dress. Fluffy hair. He could bite her, really.

"Here I am." His smile was beautiful as always. Charming. It never failed to make her heart race.

"Mom, Dad, Nina. This is my boyfriend, Chaolan." Anna announced proudly and he bowed.

"It's an honor for me to meet you." He walked to Heather and playfully reached out the potted orchids. "You must be the older sister, yes?"

Heather took the flowers and chuckled.

"Cheeky. No. I am Heather, the mother."

"Ah? How come? You look so radiant and young. Such good genes." He respectfully bowed again. His tone more serious now. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Mrs Williams."

Then he walked to Richard. There was no playfulness. Chaolan just respectfully bowed.

"I've heard you are a fan of this brand, Mr Williams."

"Yeah, that's right." Dick took the bottle, carefully. In his practiced, jaded cop way of doing everything. Yeah, it was the brand he liked, although he didn't buy it often. Expensive shit. "Thank you, lad."

"You're very welcome, Sir."

He proceeded to give the cake to Nina and then a pretty golden necklace with a Sun pendant hanging from it to Anna. The style matched with a silver bracelet with a moon engraved that he was wearing.

After that, they had dinner. Chaolan felt Richard's eyes on him the whole time. Scrutinizing him. But each time he would glance back at him, he would give him the most angelic smile. It threw Dick off, again and again.

They were in the middle of the dessert, Lee was listening intently while Heather babbled about her childhood in England.

And then, Richard casually announced.

"I ran a background check on you, lad. Why the secondary heir of the Mishimas is hanging out with my daughter? Are you perhaps having fun before having to marry some rich girl? I know my daughter's reputation is complicated, but-"

"Stop right there." With each word Richard said, Chaolan frowned more and more. "I have no idea what you mean by that, Mr Williams, but I have no intentions of using Anna or playing with her feelings, if that's what you're implying."

"Then why her? She is... Pretty average. I don't see why you would waste your time..."

Lee looked at Anna and saw her frozen in place, her smile tight as if it held a dam of tears. Heather frowned, but was silent. Nina seemed annoyed, but really didn't say anything.

"With all due respect, Mr Williams, this is an odd question. I am not dating Anna out of how useful she is to me. I am dating her because I like her. I believe you chose Mrs Williams in the same way, no?"

Richard grits his teeth, but follows the same pattern of angry nonchalance he gets from Lee.

"Yeah, I suppose so. But I don't have to please anyone but myself."

"Neither do I."

Betty Boogie's Avatars

I don't see many people talking about it, but one of the more interesting and most definitely the cutest characteristic of recent South Park is Trey Parker's daughter voicing some specific characters. Most viewers might not even realize how much impact she has on the actual show. For instance, when she has favorite pop songs, Trey makes sure to include them in the episodes, such as Humble in S21E1 or when she got into horse dressage, Trey made an episode about it (S25E4), and he specifically stays up to date about current children's trends through her. I'm here to take you on a journey of the characters she played, so naturally first comes Ike.

Ike Broflovski Ike had a lot of voice actors, famously voiced by the children of crew members. Betty's been voicing Ike since season 20, and that might just be a reason why Ike had such a big role in that season, since Trey evidently loved making his daughter say the silly obscene things Ike said. She started doing the voice when she was 3 years old, just like Ike is. And while she gained other roles, she still does Ike at the age of 10 in S26.

Hannah Williams Interestingly this first grader, Hannah, has been a background character since S9, waaay before Betty was even born. But she was never named and she never said a word. That changed, when in S21E2 she is singing at a school talent show, voiced by Betty. In S22 she continues voicing Ike and also she provides sound for the priest call whiste. ("I love Jesus! I love Jesus!")

As of S23 she is also credited for voicing the PC Babies, most prominently Riley, and a vegan boy, who might be a first or second grader, she is also Menorah in S24, the daughter of future Eric.

However an interesting shift happens at the end of The Return of Covid, in which we meet an entirely new character, Heather Williams (also mistakenly addressed as Heather Thomson before her on-screen appearance) who is decidedly a new fourth grader created specifically for Betty to voice.

We first see her watching Terrance and Phillip and eating ice cream. Then the boys (as adults from the future) blackmail her with a photo of her farting, since she can get Denver Nuggets tickets from her dad. Then she becomes a recurring character in S25, keeping the idea that whenever Trey thinks a line would be funnier if it came from the mouth of an actual child, he invited Betty to say it.

In Pajama Day she calls PC Principal a fascist and appears to be friends with Wendy and Millie. And she dares to argue with Eric about the correct pajama terminology at a kids meeting. In The Big Fix, she is seen in the main fourth graders' classroom, arguing with Stan, and it's clear Trey enjoys Betty opposing with his characters specifically.

I wonder if there's some history behind her voicing two characters named Williams. We know she played a girl called Harper at the South Park 25th Anniversary Concert specifically named after one of her friends, so Williams might be the surname of one of her friends as well. Soon, Heather fades into the background without any explanation, after the show seemingly decided to make her a regular, she gets replaced. Why? It seems like when Betty got 9 years old, Trey decided she should get a permanent character. Perhaps for that idea, they had a better design to use...

Back in S24, before either Heather Williams or Menorah Cartman got introduced, there was a Lil' Qties member who has never appeared before. She was specifically designed by Betty, seemingly already created to serve as her avatar (and I applaud Trey's bravery to represent her daughter as an anti-vaccine character). Still, I forgot about her, kept waiting for Heather Williams to have a role in S26, and instead when Stan's family buys a japanese toilet, which girl voiced by Betty shows up?

The blonde girl with the black jacket and bow. And she's officially named Betsy now. The personality is the same as Heather Williams: an assertive, outspoken girl who lashes out at Trey's characters without ever being talked back to. Except she is a different character in-show, and therefore none of the development and experience Heather had in the episodes count anymore. While both of them had exactly one season at this point, I believe Betsy is here to stay, since she is designed by her, named after her, so unlike Heather, she is a more personal avatar.

Betsy already seems to be friends with Nelly, Nichole, Bebe, Red, and to a lesser extent, on friendly terms with Wendy (although I can imagine their strong personalities would clash at some point), I hope they decide to expand upon her character and make her a mainstay. And it seems like that's the intent. Especially after Trey's father's day cake had Betsy's face on it. My theory is that Heather was supposed to stay relevant, but they just chose the Betsy design after a trial year. So if nothing else would change in their real life, I think it's safe to assume we can count on Betsy returning.
