"SAINT SEIYA: HEAVEN CHAPTER" CONCEPT ARTS

These are two concept arts drawn by Masami Kurumada himself depicting his original idea for the Heaven Chapter arc. It was a short 8-page story that introduced the arc, and was handled to Toei Animation so they could work on the script of the movie "Heaven Chapter Overture". This story was eventually published on Shonen Jump magazine on January, 2004.

The story shows Pegasus Seiya on a vegetative state, caused by the wound inflicted by Hades' sword at the end of the Hades Chapter. Seiya is being taken care by Saori Kido (Athena) in a place which presumably can be The Sanctuary. The rosary beads Seiya is wearing breaks, and Athena sees that as a bad omen.

In another place that resemble a prison in Heaven, a man named Toma receives orders by a misterious cloaked messenger to kill Athena's Bronze Saints; They caused the wrath of the gods by defeating Poseidon and Hades, and now the gods see them as a threat. Toma then iquires the cloaked messenger if the order was given by Zeus.

The Heaven Chapter concept was abandoned after the movie that introduced the arc, Heaven Chapter Overture (2004) bombed at the box office. Kurumada then took some aspects of this story to create "Next Dimension", which is considered a canon follow up to the classic series.
