Thinking about the whole "Heaven and Hell are just as bad as each other, Heaven just got better PR" and tying that to my nebulous thoughts about Heaven/Angels as salesmen. But, on the flip-side, Demons too are a type of salesman, like hello Crossroads Demons. That's their whole shtick. But there's a clear divide between the two that aligns with characteristics of Heaven and Hell.
Heaven is investing a lot in their marketing. They are selling an image of trust. Hell, on the other hand, is the epitome of "all press is good press." They don't care about their bad reputation. They know they can always find some poor desperate sucker willing to do business. They are the swindling snake oil salesman. This aligns with how demons don't bother to get consent from vessels. They aren't trying to gain trust. They don't put on a facade. They are demons through and through.
They are dirty and underhanded and seal their deals with a kiss (forced intimacy). Crowley taking photo evidence of the Bobby kiss reads as: blackmail material. You're in bed with them now. You've gotten your hands dirty. You've literally sold your soul to the devil. Ironclad contract, punishable by death. It's mafia dealings.
Aside to note: while both Heaven and Hell dress themselves in suits and are coded as upper class, Crowley is more mob-boss (see his intro ep, the mansion, everything). While Heaven is more CEO.
Anyway, Heaven is not dissimilar from Hell, but they've branded themselves better. Heaven relies on image and reputation to sway the buyer. They are the white collar sales exec. They are investing in market research and ad campaigns. They cloak themselves in pure, wholesome branding while being cut-throat execs who largely do not give a fuck about the customer and only care about the bottom line.
They make assurances. They coddle the buyer into a false sense of security. Pulling out all the stops to seal the deal. What they're asking is risky but...You feel secure. They're angels after all. Angels are good. (Hallelujah for that marketing, eh?). And it's the most devout that they seek to do business with. Brand loyalists. People who are already invested and willing to overlook any flaws because, well, they're just such big fans of the company. They've heard good things. They've been reeled in (fish!) by the good PR, the brand images, the freebies.
Heaven also exudes the air of elite. This isn't some dirty demon deal. You're negotiating. (See: Dean saying yes to AU!Michael). You feel like you're on more even ground. You feel like they respect you. They wine and dine you to get you to say yes. Their metaphoric contracts feel less scary. They have better lawyers wording things just right to keep the alarms from sounding. We'll take care of your family. You're doing God's work. You are special and Chosen. We need YOU for this most holy mission (no time-frame mentioned. And you don't feel the need to ask).
And once they cheat you? Well, there's not a thing you can do. Their reputation stays intact because well, remember you signed that NDA? They've gagged you. Quietly took control of your life. Try going to the press about how Heaven is evil. No one will listen to you.
