I'm at work, thinking about Trajan Heavensbee, like you do.

We were actually first introduced to Trajan Heavensbee in the films. There is a monument in Heavensbee Hall with his name on it, and the face carved into (I wouldn't really call it a bust?) is that of director Francis Lawrence.

Now this probably isn't a Harley Quinn situation (where a character from the adaptations makes its way into the canon material). Collins would've been at work on Sunrise on the Reaping at the time the TBOSAS was being made. (Lawrence himself said he first read SOTR in Summer 2024, only months after TBOSAS came out.) Someone in the art department probably asked who Heavensbee Hall is named after and here we are.

I'm not sure how much faith we should put into him being called "the Father of Panem" in that film. From the books, I had just assumed the Heavensbees were a big part of building the school, not the country. But that he is named for the Roman Emperor Trajan also suggests he had a lot of power in Panem (Plutarch himself is named after a "mere" writer/historian. His relative--possibly his father?--Hilarius is named after a Roman politician, I think. But I know that name more of the Popes and saints named Hilarius than the Roman guy.)

But being named after a Roman emperor doesn't necessarily mean a character has power in Panem. After all Claudius, Otho and Titus were all Emperors of Rome too. And I think if he were the a "Father of Panem" in the way Americans use the term "Founding Fathers" then Haymitch would know the name? (Maybe? Katniss says they have history of Panem but it's a lot of "blather".)

But Plutarch says Trajan Heavensbee was the only ancestor who as been "of any use." (A sick burn on Hilarius.) And Trajan was one of so-called "Five Good Emperors" named. The only other one of those we see referenced in THG is Marcus Aurelius, who Dr. Aurelius is named for. So I think it's safe to say he's a Capitol guy but he's "good" in Suzanne and Plutarch's eyes.

The portrait of Trajan that Plutarch shows Haymitch has him holding a book, and Haymitch notes they are all holding specific items. So clearly Trajan Heavensbee--who built that library and a big wing of the school--thought learning and reading was important.

Sometimes the Roman names mean more than just a random Roman name though. Like Seneca Crane is named for Seneca the Younger who was also forced to commit suicide. But I am not sure what else we are to read into this name. Most of what I know of Trajan is that he has an arch that is cool.

oKAY so exo and btob you're good all of btob's albums are worth downloading cause they're all perfect (((born to beat, press play, thriller and beep beep released in that order)))

okay next big bang are like massive like bigger than shinee and exo it's mental but they're so good and hot and g-dragon and t.o.p are in it so <333 gd's leader and he's literally the cutest nicest most respectful soft-spoken cutie ever and it's weird cause he's SO WEIRD in his mvs but w/e literally every idol ever wants to be gd and he writes/produces all of big bang's stuff and his own stuff he's perfect basically

this is nu'est (minhyun, ren, jr, baekho, aron) and they're under the shittest company ever but whatever they're the cutest and they're so so so good and sometimes aron says things like 'it's chill' in english and makes me want to die when they do things in china they have a 6th member called jason who's adorable but they're usually just these 5 listen to hello hello, fine girl, not over you and action

okay these are infinite and they're really cute plus woohyun is in a subunit called toheart w key from shinee (idk did i mention that key is literally the worst person in the whole world i would go into it but that's like a whole separate post just know he's the worst and he only gets away w it bc he's hot af) who are also v v v good

(woohyun, key) listen to i like you, destiny, before the dawn and last romeo (their new one they're like in the middle of/about to comeback) and for toheart they only have one mini album but it's so good listen to it all but mostly delicious

vixx are all hot af like i'm not joking i'm pretty sure all of them are a solid 10 and their music is so good as well everything's a tune and they have some really cute stuff too 

(hongbin, ken, ravi, n, leo, hyuk) listen to beautiful killer, girls why (cutest mv ever), rock ur body, voodoo doll and eternity (mv literally came out a few hours ago)

then there are others like b2st and b1a4 and teen top but i'm going to stop there bc if i don't this is going to be even longer and i haven't done girl groups yet 

i'm so picky about girl groups idk i either really like them or i'm ehh but my biases are hello venus who are SO underrated they're adorable and lovely and their music is 15/10

(nara, alice, yoonjo, yooara, yooyoung, lime) their music videos are my fave and they're so talented and sigh hello venus they're just under a crap company (the same as nu'est) and get no promo whatsoever but okay listen to hello, do you want some tea, venus, love appeal, and romantic love

f(x) are my favourites they're SO good and i actually want to be amber everyone loves them as well they're close w everyone listen to rum pum pum, airplane, electric shock and danger (pink tape is one of my fave kpop albums just dl that really)

4minute are 11/10 and hyuna's separate stuff is my fave listen to wait a minute, what's your name, is it poppin' and whatcha doing today and for hyuna listen to bubble pop, ice cream and unripe apple feat ilhoon from btob (he's so cute in it i hate him) aoa are so good and so underrated and they're called ace of angels like could they get any cooler listen to moya, mini skirt my happy ending, and confused)

girls' generation are like the ~~big girl group you've probably listened to them they're on the same label as exo baekhyun's like in love w taeyeon and yeah they all cute listen to i got a boy, my oh my, boomerang and gee

i've only just started listening to a pink cause i've only just gotten over my jealousy of one of them marrying taemin ((my shinee bias)) in we got married but they're actually really good and everyone ever does the dance to no no no so yeah listen to no no no, mr chu, my my and boo

there are others like 2ne1 and secret but no i'm actually going to stop this is ridiculous and i'm ashamed of how many times i've said cute/adorable i feel like a 14 year old i'm so sorry enjoy here for you when you fall in love w all of them
