how much have you had? // why not start out with angst as an ice breaker lol from Zhongli
༄
The world feels so unbelievably heavy and his shoulders slump forward. He opens his mouth to answer the question but no words come out and he turns away. Tears bead in his eyes and slender finger grip the bottle all the more. If the breeze picks up a little, he makes no comment. He seems to lean into the chill like it could cool the heated ache in his chest. Barbatos is old, far too old to behave like this, but he cannot bring himself to stop. The bottle is tilted back to his lips and he drinks deeply. The bitter liquid eases some of the sharpness of his pain and he’s able to fight back the tears once more. He doesn’t know why; Zhongli is hardly one who would judge him for his mourning. The silence has dragged on, echoing heavy between them. In moments like this he’s grateful for the seeming patience that the geo archon seems to possess.
Words are difficult and as he turns to reply he chokes on them. The instant he meets the others gaze he feels small, broken and pitiful. The tears bubble up until a bitter sob escapes him. He wants to wail and scream at the sky and the wind seems to reflect this desire, whipping around him and causing his cape to flutter. “Does it matter?” He laughs between the tears spilling down his cheeks, painting a tragic figure. “It’s not enough...it’s never enough.” He waves the bottle around, watching the liquid slosh within it before taking another drink. Some of it spills and drips down his chin. He can’t bring himself to care and instead watches the red drip from his face to his hand. “Immortality is a heavy burden. I wish it had been me instead...”
