2015 First Semester Goals

Hello fellow students :) 

This is a new academic year and a new semester so I thought it well to set out goals on here for every module I'm taking. I'm  a second year student studying Communications majoring in Journalism. 

Afrikaans: (Language) This is my first language and so this is very dear to my heart. I want to succeed very well and so my goal is to prepare ahead and read prescribed books before classes start. Gather as many information to prepare myself for essays and exams. There will be two components this semester - literature and grammar. Time management is important for this module. 

English Lit: English is my second language. Therefore I have to spend more time on preparing and studying for this module. We are doing Gulliver's Travels and Robinson Crusoe for the first semester. I have an amazing Prof. De Lange that helps me out a lot. I'm looking forward to all of the classes and inspiration. Also I'm reading these two prescribed books and making self study notes on them while I still have two weeks left before classes start. 

Communication - My communication module is spit up into 3 different classes focusing on three different aspects of communication as follows:

Media/Journalism: I want to make this module my main focus, reason being that Journalism is my passion and what I want to do after Uni. I need to get an A definitely. I will work harder, study harder and write more this semester focusing on fine tuning my skills and working at the campus newspaper.

Corporate Communication: This module focuses mainly on communication that takes place in the workplace. This is a valuable module for any student because of its theories and case studies done on people. I want to spend more time on this module trying to understand intricacies between people. 

General Communication: In this module we do practical classes and focus on self development. That is exactly what I want to do - Develop myself to be the best I can. 

Creative Writing: This is by far my favourite classes to take. In the first semester we are going to do Poetry. I've already started writing a few drafts and outlines for poems I want to work on. 

All in all I would like to achieve my goals in getting straight A's and working as hard as I can in succeeding. I like sharing my goals with others not just for motivation, but motivating myself too.
