I always have to smile at myself when I read a fanfic in which Bruce immediately catches Jason after he hits with his tire iron.

I get why fanfic writers do it, so they can move the plot along without having to write the chase after Jason or the scene when they do talk in the condemned building that Jason sleeps in. I get it.

But I always have to think about canon then.

Because not only did Jason manage to run away from Batman.

He also called him a 'big boob'.

I repeat. He gets caught jacking the tires. Tries to deny it. Hits Batman with a tire iron, runs away and insults him.

This 12-year old did something that every rogue would never even dream of.

Bruce who just finished an argument with Dick, walking in the library to see tiny Jason reading: I hope you never grow too old for me

Dick: Hey Tim?

Tim: Yes?

Dick: Where's Jaybird? I haven't seen him for like a month.

Tim: Oh yeah he's hanging out with Robin.

Dick: ..Damian? Why would he-

Tim: No, not Damian. Robin, you know.. dead him?

Dick: ...

Dick: ..What.

Tim: You don't know? Jason and Robin are fully different people you know.

Dick: Hold on what do you mean?? I thought we only got one soul??

Tim: Nah, the pit does that to you.

Dick: ...so.. that mean my hallucinations of Jay we're not hallucinations?

Tim: No also what?

When Jason was little, he wanted to sound as intimidating as he could for Robin, and so copied Batman’s behaviour and voice, and would also imitate Dick because he was the first Robin and just so cool Jason couldn’t help look upto him as the standard (still is to a certain extent for present day Jason though he’ll never admit it).

So today, Jason can not only perfectly embody their body language so much so that if you couldn’t see his face you would think it’s them, he can also uncannily mimic their voices.

He uses this to their utmost advantage and it results in chaos every time. Just image scenarios like you’re in Gotham trying to rob houses in peace at night, you hear “Well well well something darks happening.” and of course you’re fucked but it’s Nightwing so you’re not that fucked and when you look to the source of the sound you find yourself staring down the feared crime lord Red Hood aiming a bazooka at you.
