名残雪 Nagoriyuki (Lit. “Lingering Snow”)
I noticed that in Baiken's bio you translated Suzuran as "Noble Dash". Isn't the correct translation "Lily of the Valley", which both continues her flower naming conventions and serves as a reference to the Queen song of the same name?
It’s really a bizarre thing, and probably just a quirk of Daisuke’s jargon naming conventions (and you’re right, it’s DEFINITELY a Queen reference!).
Officially, the move is ‘loosely called’ “Suzuran” (すずらん), but the Kanji typically used for Suzuran is NOT what’s used in the Movelist!
Suzuran is typically read as “鈴蘭” which is the actual LITERAL “Lily of the Valley” the flower.
The OFFICIAL MOVELIST NAME is 爵走 “Shakusou” or read in Chinese “Juezou” which literally means “Nobility” and “To Run” in both languages.
爵 > Shaku / Haku / Jue “Baron / Noble / Royalty”走 > Sou / Zou / Hashi ru “To Run”
“Noble Dash” in other words.
It’s both archaic and whimsical (not to mention nonsensical) to associate two definitions with it!
This is Daisuke Ishiwatari we’re talking about, he’s just making up crap!
do you suppose "enough is enough" is a nod to Enuff Z'nuff, signifying Answer's ties to Chipp?
I was waiting for someone to notice that.
After going through YouTube to find some older metal songs to listen to, I found a song named "Five Magics" from Megadeth's Rust in Peace. I'm wondering if this song could at least one of the references Ishiwatari made with Guilty Gear's system of magic. It could be me reading into it too much but I figure this would be something interesting to look into.
Rust in Peace came out in 1989, GG showed up in 1998, so I think it’s fair game!
Dr. Paradigm refers to the Elements (Fire, Lightning, Wind, Water, and Ki) as the ‘Five Element Configuration’. Though why it’s described as a Configuration isn’t really explained.
Thanks for the mention, I’ll add it to the tag below!

Annon-Guy: Curious thought, but is Testament's new redesign in StrIVe meant to be a reference to Slash (especially sense Testament now wears a top hat like Slash does.) or were they meant to be a Marilyn Manson reference?
The vocals in Testament's theme are definitely a strong resemblance to Marilyn Manson's style, though there is some fan debate about who started the Top Hat trend in Heavy Metal as a genre.
Slash, King Diamond, Alice Cooper, Lemmy, and Tom Petty are all contenders for that style.
It's argued that Testament got their appearance from Chuck Billy, though, at least back in the original Guilty Gear.
Chances that Daryl's name being a reference to guitarist Dimebag Darrell Abbot of Pantera?
Maybe. I’ll file it under Heavy Metal References tag later.
