Gossip time: Is Daisuke Ishiwatari bisexual? (or perhaps it's just part of his artistic vision? I mean, there are a lot of good looking guys with pretty interesting costumes...)
All I can say on that subject is that despite his deep interest in bands like Queen (and Freddie Mercury), and despite the racy joke gags of him “interacting” with Toshimichi Mori… All allegations towards his personal life are pretty much vague and unknown, even in interviews of him.
To my own extensive knowledge on the man, he is a solitary fellow, though it might have something to do with the flora and fauna of Yokohama where he currently resides.
He doesn’t even have a Twitter account for gosh sakes, unlike Mori and President Kidooka!
It’s not like he’s a traditional thinker with all the characters he’s created (or even the clothing choices, some of which invoke BDSM notions), and he is world-savvy as what happened the last time Sol was hit on by a Would-Be Prostitute (Axl Low kindof interrupted that situation), but Sol was kind enough to pay her for the repairs to the Bar they trashed.
Guilty Gear has extensive and complex characters, but it’s frequently been expressed in the game’s plot that there’s a “message of acceptance”.
No matter how strange a person is, or how bizarre their past, there are people who interact with and accept them as they are.
Whether that’s Gears, Valentines with a fixation on Marriage, an insane doctor, a guy possessed by ghosts, a girl who wears a giant old martial artist robot suit, or a young bounty hunter who ran away from home because his parents raised him and his twin brother as a gender he didn’t identify as, orphans with unknown nationalities and pasts torn by war and conflict, an immortal masochist.
Though, I’m frequently reminded (at least in terms of Daisuke himself) that he keeps his personal life seperate from that of his creations.
It was once said he identifies with Sol Badguy (and even Chimaki), but that’s incorrect… He’s a hard working artist and creator, and he draws from many sources for inspiration (not just Anime, but European and Western concepts too, even SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS).
Hard-working GUTS! is part of his motto, which is ironically the exact opposite of Sol Badguy who doesn’t like to work hard at all!
He’s a private man, and though he drinks too much coffee and tea to the point I sometimes worry about him… He does what he seeks out to accomplish, and that is a very powerful statement on whom he is!
Something I myself take inspiration from, flawed though I am.
