Alternatives to Emilie Autumn, Part 7/?: Fashion
Valentin Perrin:
A French designer with androgynous, baroque-inspired fashions.
Ophelia Overdose:
A model working in an eclectic variety of styles, with frills and corsets being a common theme.
Vecona:
The designer and former Bloody Crumpet behind some of Emilie’s most iconic looks. Lately her style has changed drastically, but but images of her older work can still be found floating around on the internet, and gothic items still crop up on her Etsy from time to time.
Allison Harvard (”Creepy-Chan”):
Former meme and current model best known for her distinctive features and quirky personality.
Elegy Clothing:
A black-owned gothic lolita brand. At the moment, their shop appears to be mostly out of stock, but the look books and collections in particular are still worth checking out.
Samantha Rei:
A Minnesota-based designer popular in the Gothic Lolita and Steampunk styles.
Iridessence:
Plus-sized model and burlesque dancer with a stunning vintage style inspired by a wide variety of time periods. She also has a tumblr.
Heavy Red:
Elegant gothic clothing at reasonable prices. They have a fairly extensive collection of Alice In Wonderland-Inspired pieces and some nice-looking corsets.
Gloomth:
Lolita-ish fashion with lots of medical-themed designs. Some of their work has regular been featured here in the past.
And speaking of Heavy Red, I’m still (STILL!) eyeing this Animalistic Desires top and trying to decide if it would look right over my bust. In my imagination, I would wear it under jackets and lace dresses (with a slip, of course), and it would add a layer of lightweight, interesting texture. But I fear that in reality, it would stretch and gap too much and look poorly-fitted.
So, what I need to do is look at their return policies and see if it’s possible to return an item after trying it on. Hmm.
