So, I’ve been meaning to write this for some time now, and I’ll try to keep it short (believe me, had to edit this quite a lot -_- ) but it probably won’t be so I apologize for that..
(Warning, this might be triggering for those who have been through trauma/illness/accidents etc. feel free to skip this section)
Back in September of 2020 something bad happened to me and I ended up in the hospital (ER). For 24 hours I didn’t know whether I was going to live, neither did the doctors. I did ask them but they said everything would be fine, which, I understand why they said that but I knew even in my ‘state of mind’ back then that they didn’t want me to get worried.
I arrived in the late afternoon and it was almost midnight when I had finally gotten settled in my room, every half hour they took my pulse, blood pressure and blood sugar, not to mention to see if I was still alive.
Luckily, after being given heavy medication and a lot of liquid (I hadn’t been able to eat for a week before this) I started getting better, still, I wasn’t out of danger yet.
After a week of slow rehabilitation, constant surveillance, more heavy medication (both oral and injections) the doctors felt confident enough to send me home.
I was glad to be back at a familiar place but of course things weren’t the same, I still have to take medicine every morning and evening.
Next week I’m getting a check up on how well I’ve been healing (X-ray) and they said it would take about 6 months before any significance change would be visible, still, these things take time. But for once I’m being optimistic as I have almost no symptom's anymore which I hope means something must at least have healed? :/
The reason for that little story is this, these past months I’ve been thinking quite a lot about things. About life, and death, what it means to be satisfied and what true appreciation is. See back there when I was all alone and whether I would see the sunrise again or not wasn’t certain I realized a few things. One of which being that, no matter how dark things may seem, how helpless one is in the face of death or the unknown, the smallest things can make the biggest difference.
And I know it sounds cheesy, it is, but it’s true and I knew that before but now I think I truly understand. In the end, you only have yourself to keep you company and when that time comes I believe one of the best things one can do is to try and see the good side of things. And by that I don’t mean one should be happy all the time and grateful for everything nor ignore or fear what eventually may come, as this doesn’t just apply to these situations.
*whispers* This text was originally containing a long explanation of my thought process on how I came to the conclusion of what I’m about to talk about, but I don’t think you are interested in reading that so I’ll cut it here.. *whispers*
What I meant this post to be about was this:

See these past months I’ve been doing a lot of ROTG related work so listening to this is kinda ‘part of the experience’ + I really like the song ^^
But the important part was that, this song, however silly it may seem to some of you, has really helped me in more ways then I thought it ever could.
Have you ever read a book, seen a movie or heard a song that almost felt as if it was written for you? Well that is how I feel about the song ‘Still Dream’ which was created for the ‘Rise of the Guardians’ movie back in 2012.
I won’t go into too much detail about the lyrics cause then we’ll be here all day but in short, almost every part of the text I can relate too, which, funny enough I couldn’t before, or at least I didn’t care all that much for some reason? :/
Time to close your eyes
Over look the darkness - (don’t think about what may/will happen)
And try to dream tonight
Not so long ago - (before everything broke down, to a time when I was young)
Your world was bright
Still dream
And all the wonder that you knew
Will all come flying back to you - (I think ya’ll can figure this one out on your own..)
Anyway, I mostly wanted to post this to show my appreciation for both the ‘Rise of the Guardians’ movie (and books), it’s soundtrack and all the people who helped create it.
Really, what you made back in 2012 might not have made the biggest score in the box office, but it made all the difference to me when I needed it the most.
Thank you :)
