Hecate bio post that I took forever to write for NOOO REASON
I kept rewriting it because I’m not too keen on my writing skills in the first place I don’t know she’s hard to explain in text but i can talk about her just fine in conversation LOL
Hecate Peppermint
6’6 (or something like that)
early 30’s
Unlike most, Hecate doesn’t have her own part in the entertainment industry, finding it all so asinine she immediately rejected her own role as a tv personality as soon as it was offered to her. The earliest memory she has in fact is of her walking out on her first day of work, her boss crawling on hands and knees begging and crying for her to come back.
She’s an independent sort, staying by herself in a small apartment of her own. Hecate doesn’t like relying on anyone and often turns down offers, even if they’d benefit her greatly in the long run.
She spends most of her time plotting. Trying to figure out how to enact her master plan to finally get rid of Exec and all of her horrible television shows. She’s a very vengeful woman, it’s hard to find her in a state where she’s not actively thinking about destroying someone who’s wronged her somehow.
—
Hecate’s different from most puppets, she’s not the type to follow orders or entertain or anything of the typical sort of behavior. She’d rather be the one in control, though she thinks the whole obsession with television thing is pretty asinine in the first place. Because of that she doesn’t really own any tvs or watch it, the only time she ever really gets an idea of what’s going on in the entertainment world is when she spots something playing on one of the big screens in the city.
She tends to have a pretty negative outlook on life, though she’d much rather call it realistic. She also thinks most people are pretty vapid and dumb having met plenty of individuals to deem as living proof. Because of this she tends to steer clear of most people and prefers to not have many friends. The few who she willingly calls friends are people she’d die for. She isn’t the type to backstab someone she truly cares about, even if she might come off that way at times.
Being smarter than most, she’s crafty and good at thinking ahead. She’s figured out ways to blend in with most crowds even if she despises those around her just so she can get a different perspective that might be useful in the future.
She’s considered a captivating person by many, the way she carries herself leading to intrigue by any passerby. From the way she dresses to her voice to her mannerisms, it’s hard to ignore. From an outside perspective she seems almost perfect, knowing exactly what to say at all times. Seeming calm and confident and graceful. Her enemies would say otherwise, immediately seeing the cynical and arrogant side of her.
Her opinions tend to always skew on the unpopular side and her taste in things is peculiar to say the least. She always goes against the grain when it comes to expressing herself, whether that be entirely willingly or sometimes just to feel special. Sometimes she gets frustrated with how little she has in common with people, as if that isn’t her own fault already.
She tends to be more logic based than concerned with feelings. It’s hard to come at issues from an emotional standpoint when you already have so little understanding of those around you. Of course that means she can be rather rude and blunt at times, typically acting inconsiderate when it comes to those around her if it means getting her way.
Her hobbies include gambling and playing tricks on others, she also likes reading and writing and learning anything and everything she can. Training to be a witch, she spends a lot of her time trying to hone her magic skills. She has a collection of slot machines in her house, thinking they’re cute and stylish and fun. Alongside those, she also owns a few around the city, which actually don’t function as normal machines (they don’t take any sort of currency or dispense it, just make a lot of noise and flash bright colours) and seem to only be mindless distractions for anyone who happens to use them.
Relationships
Harlowe Peppermint is her younger sister, having a pretty strained relationship with her as they’ve never seen eye to eye in their lives. They tend to just avoid each other, Hecate making an even bigger effort than Harlowe as she hates getting into any sort of conflict with her. Hecate finds it hard to fully respect Harlowe, her love of entertainment and television against pretty much everything Hecate stands for. She thinks her obsession with Frank Sinclair is absolutely sickening as well, considering she hates him and all. Unlike most of those she has a strong distaste for, Hecate doesn’t go out of her way to provoke or torment her sister, instead preferring to just pretend she doesn’t exist.
Her half sister is Purple, who she has a strange relationship with. She doesn’t talk to her much but they seem to get along just fine, frankly just never really crossing paths with each other because they’re both always so busy. She gives Purple all of her magic knowledge and often coaches her on how to improve her skills. In turn her younger sister gives her all the latest gossip from around town, which Hecate occasionally finds some use out of.
Her best friend is Pyrie Mustard, seeing him as one of the few tolerable people on television. She admires how terrible he is at his job, thinking it’s intentional when he’s really just like that. Knowing how much he hates his job makes her feel sympathetic towards him, she promised him that she’d get him out of his position eventually. They have a lot in common, which is a rarity for Hecate. She spends the most time with him out of anyone, hanging out with him whenever he’s free from his work duties. Her only issue with Pyrie is his boyfriend, Frank Sinclair. She hates having to hang out with both of them because she finds the man so incredibly intolerable.
Frank Sinclair is her enemy, or more so the victim to most of her cruel pranks. He doesn’t seem to put up much of a fight when she torments him, and just happens to avoid her for his own safety. She doesn’t understand his loyalty to Exec and thinks he’s completely brainwashed, too stupid to ever understand she never had him in her best interest. She also thinks his show is stupid, and that he’s dumb, and looks stupid. At times she’ll act civil with him to make Pyrie happy.
Hecate revolves her life around destroying Exec, so it’s a safe bet to say she doesn’t like her. She thinks she’s greedy and selfish and heartless, having been employed by her a long time ago she thinks she has a clear enough understanding of what kind of person she is. Hecate refuses to acknowledge the traits they might have in common, such as their drive to get their way no matter what it takes, she thinks of herself as a much more reasonable and considerate person.
Other
She often gets mistaken for her sister Harlowe, despite them not being identical twins. She tries to ignore it and play along most of the time- Though it drives her crazy internally.
She has a huge wardrobe, mostly consisting of suits and dresses. She likes fashion a lot, though she’d never claim it’s a strong suit of hers.
Likes playing tricks on people, something she thinks is just part of her nature being a clown. Usually it’s nothing drastic, she doesn’t get a kick out of hurting people.
She loves music and dancing, but tends to keep that side of herself hidden.
Her ears and tail look fake, similar to a part of a Halloween costume opposed to actual parts of her.
Similarly to Frank, she usually smells of baked goods or candy.
Claims to have a job as a magician to avoid seeming like she’s got too much time on her hands. Most people are gullible enough to believe her.
Sometimes she’s hard to read, nearly deadpan all of the time unless she’s really riled up by something.
I posted this to my story on ig forever ago trying to explain what my ocs actually were haha . there’s nothing scary just poorly drawn skinless face that I hate looking at
I’ll just tag this as a text post but there’s picture and explanation under the cut if anyone’s interested in reading about world building stuff. or just seeing poorly drawn Hecate LOL
most of my ocs I post on here are like this (they’re called puppets in my oc world but I wouldn’t say they actually are they’re just based on them)
I used Hecate as an example because she’s my favorite (and I might just redraw this if I ever have the time) but I think it’s fun to share since I’ve decided im divulging info here.
for more context my characters live in some sort of magic witchy world . So they’re all like.. magic critters (lol) . puppets are reanimated humans, they don’t have any prior memory to who they were before and they start at the age they died at. There’s a specific witch who makes them (that I’ve yet to draw) by sewing actual puppets who end up materializing in reality once she’s done (kind of silly but that’s kind of the nature of my characters anyhow haha)
they’re all supposed to be entertainers ( who Exec is in charge of most of ) or serve some other similar purpose. most of them are tv personalities or musicians or actors or something along those lines. some of them hate it and some really like it.
they function pretty much the same as humans, but they’ve got stuffing on the insides alongside all their innards and they don’t really have to eat or drink or anything if they don’t wanna. Most of them opt to just to assimilate better.
witches usually find them super duper cute and humans have a hard time differentiating them from themselves.
animal ears and tails are just for fun and extra cute factor, they’re no different from anyone else x)
