Hello there! Originally when I saw this list I was actually compelled by a different prompt, but when I was sitting down to write, I found myself inspired to write something else. I ended up combining two prompts that I felt went well with the themes I wanted to work with, and wrote a three-part story. All three parts are finished; part of the first is enclosed here (and posted on AO3). I plan to post the rest after this is made public! Hope you enjoy, and happy holidays!
“I’m sorry,” Luna says quietly after he turns away from her. Just that glance, that look—
It’d been enough for him.
“I’ve contacted those in charge of the launchpad to prepare a shuttle for anyone that wishes to go to Earth,” she continues, the two of them walking out of the B. Garden side by side. “I assume you and Quark will be returning.”
“Yes,” he answers. “I’m not going to stay up here forever. Earth is our home.”
She lowers her head. “No one seeks to imprison you. If— if the Nonary Game had ended in failure, I would have opened the door in the basement.”
Assuming she was still around to do it. He doesn’t say that, though.
“I’m not just apologizing for the game, you know,” she says. “I know how you feel. I…”
“You deserve better than this place,” he says.
