Wildling Dunk being captured by Lyonel (he was on a world tour and ended up fighting alongside some northerners against Dunk's clan) he bought Dunk to heel and said as payment he would take the big man as his, he didn't just want Dunk to be payment he wanted Dunk to become his companion and most trusted person to his heart. It was love at first fight. Dunk had struck him so hard across the face he could swear he saw the Warrior himself. It was as if Lyonel was guided by the Seven themselves to meet this wildling man. He would swear up and down there was a connection between the two, visible only in their eyes. Dunk would disagree and try to snap Lyonel's neck multiple times. Lyonel would become even more smitten by the sheer strength of this one man alone, big and strong to take on ten men by himself and only bought down by Lyonel's own might and power. He can already hear wedding bells ring for their unity.

in the book, during the trial of seven, dunk the lunk battered and bruised and kicked into the dirt as he was, was still strong enough to pick up a fully armoured aerion targaryen by the throat. while wearing his own heavy armour. he dragged aerion by the ankle across a heavily muddied field like it was nothing. say what you will about adrenaline rushes and battle fury but the amount of strength needed for that regardless is INSANE and lyonel baratheon and raymun fossaway absolutely soiled their drawers watching this happen.

Man I bet Lyonel *loves* to give Duncan head. Duncan surely gets all flustered about the “propriety” of it all because no way should his lord be on his knees for HIM, but I think the depravity of it is half the fun for Lyonel. Seeing how flustered he can make Duncan—cornering him into hallways, having to remind him to be quiet as he settles between his legs and starts undoing his breeches…Lyonel loves to make Duncan beg for head specifically—nothing gets him hotter than seeing Duncan admit what he wants, and seeing him forgo the shame, dark eyed and flushed cheeks, that he wants lyonel on his knees *for him?* oh, yeah, that shit gets him every time

Stormhedge headcanon that one of the things that Dunk comes to love most about Lyonel is that he’s the only lover Dunk’s had who routinely lets Dunk be the little spoon.

Because of his size, it’s pretty much the default for him so wrap around whoever his partner is when they sleep and it’s difficult and awkward for him to ask, even though he doesn’t mind, sometimes he yearns to just feel ~held~. But with Lyonel he doesn’t even have to ask, that man is spooning him before his head has hit the pillow.

I think part of the tragedy of how I write Lyonel is the fact that no matter the circumstances Dunk never truly choses him over Baelor

In the many time travel AUs where he goes with Lyonel to Storm's end, deciding never to meet Baelor in this lifetime? To Dunk, that's choosing Baelor living & Lyonel is the vehicle to do so.

The Maekar mpreg AU? Even married & raising his daughter with Lyonel, Dunk is still Baelor's knight & is travelling with Egg on his orders & Lyonel thinks Brienne is Baelor's.

In the show/first timeline for the time travel fics - Baelor is DEAD & Dunk still choses him

It's not that Dunk doesn't love Lyonel, just that he will always choose Baelor. He's his man in every version of this story. Baelor's the heart of chivalry, and how could Lyonel Baratheon ever measure up to that - for what is love compared to devotion?

meanwhile lyonel is Very Deliberately avoiding the way egg is staring daggers at the back of his head because dunk's the ONLY ONE THERE who isn't aware that his gyr matches the tiercel gyr on LYONEL'S glove because gyrfalcons are traditionally ruling-class ONLY
