Graves waded his way through the mud. He was partially regretting having taken the shortcut through the forest the guide had encouraged him to take. Graves had heard stories of Bandle City; and while he himself was not interested in possibly entering the fey city, he had heard that the food from the city was so intense on those not from it the flavor lasted with them for years to come.
Having lost most of his sense of taste from his ten years in the Locker courtesy of one of the Zaunite scientist wishing to test an acid they had developed and Graves being an unwilling volunteer, Graves was highly interested in the possibility of food with such powerful potency that he may actually taste the flavor.
He just needed two things: firstly, he had to fnd a Yordle outside the city and befriend them. Then he had to convince the Yordle to travel to the city and get some food to bring back to Graves without taking Graves into the city. Graves had heard of the city being in another another temporal plane, and could not risk aging excessively once he left the city. He himself was not a fey creature, and could not risk entering the city.
Of course, all of the information Graves had on the city was rumors passed to him from spectators in other towns. Now that he was knee deep in mud, he had only what he observed to rely on.
He reached into his pocket to pull out his map; he had to be close to the location of the big tree the locals had told him to wait near. As he fumbled around in his pack he could not seem to find him map. He stopped, pulling the small pack he had brought to him front so he could peer inside. Indeed, the map was no where to be found. It must have fallen out when he thought he put it inside the pack as he started to wade through the mud. Which meant it was at least a mile back up the trail he had just hiked.
Being tired from the long trek through the mud, Graves move to a clearing and took a moment to take a break. He settled down, rubbing his face. He’d have to go look for his map later. He was too exhausted right now. He closed his eyes and rested against one of the trees for a moment, allowing the soft murmurs of the forest surround him.
