17. talk about your writing and editing process

oh boy here we go uhhh so after i became close to ari, it begins with a brainrot with her; like, we send videos from tiktok, ig reels, twt... about something random or hee/jake and i be like "who in enha" LMAO and i tease her with some dialogues.. or sometimes i just wake up thinking about a topic and decide to write!

then i throw it on the doc: the raw ideas, the dialogues i created in my head (often i'm laying down or like showering and i start to think about the idea and a dialogue pops up- AJSDASDHASD), and the ones i sent to ari.

once i have everything i had in my mind already written down, i start to create a proper plot around it until i reach the part that triggered the whole story. in the meantime i try to add the backstory and character details, as well as the metaphors i often use to describe sensations and emotions..

and i think it's a bless (or a curse?) that my brain just... make it all make sense in the end. i can add a simple detail on the very beginning and forget it throughout the plot, then it randomly clicks and i be like oh i'll reference that one part bla bla bla. and that happens with the title as well... it✨ appears ✨(and there are moments where i have the title before the rest of the story, so i try to match both)

since im a psychologist 🤓 i have this urge to create an acceptable background reason for some choices sometimes, or simply how the environment and parents/family "shaped" the character's personality, so this happens as well.

i'm constantly searching for synonyms (and i keep forgetting them) and i use google translate a lot lmaooo. and when i'm reading a fic, i try to gather random words i never heard of and fit into something i'm writing (not being eng fluent struggles)

uhhh i don't re-read much, i only re-read to make sure i'm consistent. that's why none of my plots are proofreaded (and cuz i know nothing about gramatics to correct myself! hah)

i didn't understand the "editing process" part.. it's about the fic itself? if so i think i already answered 😭😭 but if it's the editing as in the images/header: i just select pictures of the member that matches his description and throw them on photoshop with the name i came up with, gather a few random details and textures and hope that i'll be able to make a decent header for the story 😭

ngl i normally get a bit anxious about writing "too much" cuz i've seen some ppl complaining about long, big fics. it wasn't directed at me 😭 but yk, i read that and thought uhh should i stop writing this much.. isn't it a bit TOO much..

but honestly? i just can't. i feel like i'm delivering a bad, empty work if i try not to write the way i do. i love giving it some backstory and detailing scenes! so this message/ask means a lot to me 🥺

well, i've been writing in portuguese since i was 16? 17? (i'm 24 now), back then i used to write only mxm (for bts and eventually txt) until i stopped due college and stuff

earlier this year i was going through some really bad personal shit (i'm still struggling but anyways) and got into the "should i stan this group?" rabbit hole with enhypen lol and at some point i discovered the tumblr fanfics and started to read just for fun, i needed some kind of break from reality yk?

and then i think my writer self woken up again and i decided to give it a try, and since i was reading in english i thought it could be a good idea to write in english, specially these reader x member typa story!

it also helps me with learning more words and ways of putting them together. when i'm writting i open a bunch of tabs and start to research for meanings, synonyms, ways of expressing something specific, etc
