The buzz of Sanna’s comlink pulled her away from Doctor Oggurobb’s far-too-long speech about necessary supplies and she suppressed a smile when she glanced at the screen: “1 new message from Theron Shan”

Assuming it was regarding the newest requisitions from Hylo’s team, she opened the message -- a welcome distraction, truly -- and reached out to set her mug of caf on the table.

A loud clatter snapped Vassanna’s focus back to the room around her, heat rushing to her cheeks: She had been so wrapped up in reading Theron’s note that she had missed the table entirely, sending her caf mug crashing to the floor. Murmuring apologies, she called upon the Force to aid her in the clean-up.

“Are you all right, Commander?” Lana’s concern was laced with smug humor and the flush crept up into Sanna’s ears.

“Yes, just fine,” she stammered. “Thank you. All fine here.”

Medic’s eyes slid down the marksman’s neck and landed on his crocodile-tooth necklace; its mismatched teeth tucked themselves within and outside of Sniper’s shirt, exposing and hiding themselves with each crane of his neck or puffings-out of his chest when he’d breathe. The doctor reached up and took one of the teeth between his thumb and pointer finger, examining it with a fond grin. 

“You know, it took these beloved creatures of yours… millions of years to become the marvels we know them as now.” He mused, brushing his fingers over each of the teeth, admiring the age of some, the shape and color of others. Medic’s eyes met Sniper’s, and his hand came to rest on the marksman’s breast, over his heart. “Time means very little to those of us more enthralled with the process than the instant result.” He couldn’t help but smile at the warmth in Sniper’s eyes. 

“And growth is one of the most wonderful parts of life!” He went on, nodding to his thriving yarrow plant, undoubtedly suffering in that ridiculous little mug it had been originally planted in, “a life without improvement and change is hardly a life worth living at all, don’t you think?” Medic asked, tilting his head to the side as they looked from the plant to one another again. Sniper gave a wordless nod and a small grin; Medic could feel the vibration of a thoughtful hum bellowing gently in his chest like the purr of a crocodile. The rough warmth of Sniper’s hand over his own, on his own breast, encouraged the touch. Holding it there. Poppies bloomed on his cheeks, and the doctor thought about Sniper in his dream.
