Their chests heaved as Sniper shook his head, gently bumping his knuckles against the doctor’s cheek and shoving them against his cheekbone playfully. His face was warm, and red. Gorgeous. (Text under the cut!)
“You crazy cunt!” Sniper gasped as he tried to compose himself, laughing and shaking his head in disbelief. “You could’ve been killed!” He tried to scold, his breath stuttering as he inhaled deeply through his mouth, trying to steady his breathing.
“Guilty!” Medic giggled, “but I wasn’t!” He declared in a sing-song voice, smirking triumphantly as he tossed his head, flipping his forelock back into place on his head. “Because of you!” Their laughter slowly died down as they both panted quietly, and Medic took a step towards Sniper and held his medigun with one hand for a moment, taking one of Sniper’s hands in his other and giving it a tight, loving squeeze. The smile they gave each other could have powered up Engineer’s workshop for the next fifty years. “All I did was trust you. I knew you were watching me.”
“‘Course I was,” Sniper said before he could stop himself, and he should have regretted it, but the way Ludwig looked at him… he wasn’t sorry. Not even a little bit. In fact, he was glad he said it. “Don’t look at me like that,” he breathed insincerely, licking his lips and looking down at their hands, then at the medigun, red smoke slithering slowly to their calves. The toe of Sniper’s boot was stepping ever so slightly on the toe of Medic’s. “Just doing my job and whatnot.” He shrugged. His eyes went to the doctor’s lips.
Poppies!
“You know, part of my job is having an eye on my teammates as well... and I like keeping my eye on you. Someone has to watch out for guardian-angel-and-humble-protector Michel.” Medic ventured, watching as the bushman gave him eye contact again. “The healer just so happens to enjoy the view too.” He smiled that tender grin that made Sniper want to step forward and collide his mouth with Medic’s and beg to be the only one who he smiled at like that for the rest of his miserable life.
