He lead you to slaughter, I saved you. From wandering free of His sight I found you, I will show you love, the love you so eagerly denied for the sheapard who placed your neck along the chopping block.
In shadows the monsters hide. In the shadows monsters are free. Your soft wool is only a disguise, show me your ugly insides, be the sin you ache to be.
Rojiura de Hirotta Onna no Ko ga Bad End Ato no Otome Game no Heroine datta ken
Author: Kabochamasuku
Illustrator: Heiro
Label: Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko
Release Date: 29 November 2024
My Score: 3/5 stars
Genre: Romance, Fantasy, Isekai, Magic academy setting
Premise: Ash was reincarnated into the world of an otome game that he played in his previous life as a mob character that wasn't in the game. This otome game was average on all accounts but one: it had a strikingly depressive bad ending route which put it's protagonist Finne through great suffering. Ash is now attending the same academy that the game takes place in but hasn't interacted with the main plot of the game. This changes when one rainy day he runs into Finne who's clearly on the bad end path.
This was pretty good. It does a good job at establishing the story and the characters and setting up room for them to grow. The characters were likeable and there was a good flow to the scenes. I did like that Ash is not the only character who was reincarnated from Japan. It didn't leave a big impression on me but it was enjoyable enough that I'd read the second volume of it.
I am questioning why the book's title and contents refer to Finne using the word "heroine" rather than the Japanese word for "protagonist", but I was looking back at Hamefura and the series appears to call Maria the "heroine" as well so it might be a cultural thing. It also makes me think about how there haven't been a whole lot of "reincarnated in a galge/eroge" light novels. I actually can't think of any off-hand. I'm sure they exist, but they're not nearly as popular as otome games which I think is curious.
Recommended for romance fans.
I don’t want to worship god I want to worship cock
"Who else are we discussing? I admitted him to my room yesterday. I admitted him to my confidence, and he attempted to poison me. Who else could it have been? The Lady Themis? Or perhaps her sister? Heiro’s a little young to engage in political murder, don’t you think?"
we don't know exactly how old Heiro is, but given the "artless, unwed, and useless" comment i get the sense that she's been of marriageable age for at least a few years by now
regardless, it's awfully funny of Gen, the second husband of Attolia Irene, to comment on an adult woman being too young to commit political murder
