The accident had occurred not long after she had departed, yet it was a fairly quiet day do have attracted any attention to the road. Nobody would notice a car left the road and crashed on the woods at full speed. Immobile in a puddle of her own blood, her state would have turned her mother’s guts upside down. Along her face, small fragments of broken glass had left small cuts, but the biggest ones left ugly cuts along her arms; having used them to protect her face when she was thrown out the car, they also had their fair share of wounds.
Calista was unconscious, though her silent breathing distinguished her from a tree trunk. Her head felt swollen on the back, but at least she hadn’t lost her life. That didn’t mean of course that her whole body was not in the most painful situation she’d ever encountered. That same evening she became a priority patient of the hospital, and after spending hours evaluating her, the prognosis was somewhat positive.
Almost two weeks had passed, and her mind was recording small fragments of conversations she’d never heard before, some heated and some fairly calm. Though there was no way she could open her eyes, move, or speak; her heart rhythm got better when familiar voices spoke to her- granted that the doctors did their best and allowed longer visits to ‘encourage’ her to wake up.
