I don't know why these people can't understand simple concepts like "not everything is about Kylo Ren". Saying Kylo is the antagonist is not an attack, it is a fact. Speaking about being sidelined by LF isn't about Kylo or whatever crack ship they like or don't like. I already know fandom doesn't care about characters of color.
I don’t get it either. Or, I do but I don’t.
If it’s not about a white (male) character they must insert a white (male) character into the discussion. Everything must center on a white (male) character. Male here is in brackets because while it is usually Kylo, Rey has been used in the same way though a lot less often.
Characters of color was never allowed to exist on their own, that much was clear in this fandom from the freaking start.
helelrising replied to your post “Call me petty, but I’m not gonna be friend-friends with you if you...”
your name isn't theamazingcat?
Shockingly when my mother looked down at me as a newborn baby she didn’t give me that name. I still don’t know why...
No worries. The "Ben Solo" crowed have to be one of my least favorite Kylo stans and tend to be the most openly racist in my opinion considering "Ben" is just white!Finn at the end of the day. Them trying to act like they are morally superior than other R//ylos is laughable.
He is! I have little sympathy for K/ylo as a character, but what sympathy I do have for him is more in that his “fans” don’t even respect him enough to use the name he chose for himself (idk as a trans guy it just bugs me that people so callously refuse to use a name because it’s not someone’s birth name). That it’s also just justification for their racism & otherwise shitty ship only makes it worse.
I really liked your addition to the post since that’s what I was attempting to get at, but just sort of failed at articulating lol. They might as well just make an OC if they’re going to try to use this “Ben” character-imo there’s no shame in shipping canon characters with OCs, whereas there should be a lot of shame in being a racist and giving the white villain Finn’s characteristics. Ben is basically an OC (albeit a bad, racist one b/c of the Finn thing) anyway as he doesn’t exist in canon.
what's phan?
its a ship between the 2 youtubers danisnotonfire (dan howell) and amazingphil (phil lester) so another real person ship and hm Uglie
Maybe it is a cultural thing? For us blond is like Charlize Theron's hair. Then there is brown hair, black and red hair and finally grey/white (without getting into the "fake hair colors" blues and purples, etc.). I didn't know people took hair colors so damn serious. 90% of these "blond variations" would just be called light brown or dark blond depending on the shade. Idk what soft strawberry blonde or light brown grey blonde are but apparently they are a thing. xD
Yeah same here too! We also just think of it as yellow, brown, orange/red, black and then white/ grey for elderly people’s hair.
When I was younger I wasn’t exposed to western TV shows/ movies (I only watched indian media and western cartoons) so when I saw cartoon characters having like yellow or brown hair I just thought it was a cartoon thing and real life people didn’t have yellow hair
@ that anon, just because someone agrees on certain subjects with other people. doesn't mean we all have some weird group think on every subject. even on something like anti r*ylo, i don't always agree on everything other antis say about the ship itself since my issues with the ship tend to be very specific to the r*ylo fandom. let alone every subject out there.
Yea I think the idea that we’re one big monolith is wrong. Which is why I laugh when r*ylos say things like “What about Padme and Anakin, you guys ship that” and it’s like putting aside all the other issues the chemistry is so bad between Padme and Anakin I could never ship them.
My issues with R*ylo are my own and always have been.
D&D just practically told us Rhaegar was going to be a bastard enough he was truly going to fully disown his first two children or he was an asshole enough he already knew they were going to die, so he could give Jon Aegon's name. His actual male heir. Whom is now confirmed he completely abandoned.
I doubt this is a thing Book Rhaegar is going to do so I don’t think it’s fair to judge a character for a bad writer. Plenty of reason to hate book Rhaegar, I just don’t think this is book checklist at all. I’ll only get mad if this is something GRRM does, D&D’s fanfic to me is just that an utter fanfic.
I potentially see Rhaegar taking Lyanna as a second wife, but in the books, it’s strongly hinted that Rhaegar saw all three of his children as The Prince that was Promised. So why the fuck would he disown them? This entire this reeks of D&D not wanting to seed “The Dragon must have Three Heads” and not wanting to reveal Rhaegar’s actual motivations.
In the books, Rhaegar left Elia on Dragonstone specifically that much is told to us in AWOIAF and it seems his father Aerys took her and her children as hostages because Dorne was slow to support them (lol). While he did run off with Lyanna he at least left her in a place that was highly defended and while he was clearly a part of what happened to her it’s mainly his father and Tywin Lannister that eventually caused her death. Aerys refused to let Elia and her children go back to Dragonstone (with Aerys’ own wife and children) after Rhaegar died. GRRM has said they had a “complicated” relationship and more would be revealed to us, which makes me think their relationship might not be as white and black as we think.
