[At first I wasn’t sure how this would work with them being practically twins. But my Steve can’t survive without Stefan. He just can’t. Stefan is his soulmate and his greatest love. The Mun who writes Stefan has become one of my best friends and I don’t know what I’d do without him. Love both of them to pieces!]

All the history books told the story of Captain America.  How Steve Rogers rose from multiple handicaps to peak human potential thanks to Dr. Erskine's Project Rebirth.  They also told of Cap falling from a train on a mission dedicated to crushing the scientific-occult branch of Nazi Germany– HYDRA.

During the final battle between the Red Skull and the new Captain– or replacement, as the Skull called this faker– the Skull was presumed dead.  Barnes was critically injured, on the brink of fatality.  However, a mysterious medicine called the Infinity Formula granted Barnes youth eternal and quicker healing.

After the War, Barnes helped found S.H.I.E.L.D. along with Agent Carter, Colonel Phillips, and Howard Stark. Steve Rogers has a plaque on the Wall of the Fallen.

The trail goes cold in 1970.  Convinced HYDRA would one day rise again, Barnes joined the organization under incredibly deep cover.  Fast forward to the early 21st century.  The man is still young, still in the organization, and still loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D.  However, being in this long has taken a toll on him.  The nightmares from the War haunt him.  He at times practically believes the cover.

Barnes returned from his latest mission.  Bit of trouble in Somalia.  Nothing he couldn't handle.  He crossed the room, noting there was someone he hadn't seen before.  "Thought I knew everyone who worked here," he joked.
